Princess is a level 9 Boar in Elywnn Forest, along with two named adds: Porcine Entourage and Porcine Entourage(1), notorious for having many first deaths under their belts, as they outnumber the player and are stronger than what the players have fought so far. They are responsible for over half of the deaths in Elywnn Forest. This is part of a level 9 Quest “Princess must die”, requiring players to slay her and return her collar to Ma Stonefield at the Stonefield Farm. (Coords:34.59, 84.64).
Introduction
This guide will cover the quest details, the Princess’s location, combat strategies, solo, duo, or group tactics, and Hardcore survival techniques.
Princess and Porcine Entourage is amongst the most deadly named mobs in Hardcore World of Warcraft, according to Deathlog, ranked top 15 for the most player deaths in all of WoW HC.
Solo Demonstration

This demonstration uses an undergeared Level 9 Mage with just a Wand, successfully kiting and killing Princess.
Optimal Spot for the Princess Fence Trick
The optimal spot is in one of the corners of the farm that Princess lives on, though, clear bandits before initiating the fight.
Pink is the player’s Route, Red is the mob’s Route. The aim is to swap positions as they approach melee range, forcing them to reroute to the other side of the fence. The player can interchange between the three positions, provided they do not cross a wall at any point.

It is possible that the mobs could simultaneously take both red routes. In this instance, try to centralise between the two and apply any slowdowns to the less preferable one if possible. In my example, I chose the princess herself as she is the hardest-hitting and the primary target.

Why Is Princess So Dangerous in Hardcore Mode?
- 3 vs 1 Scenario – Princess is rarely without her adds, who have varying damage output, speeds, and health points, surrounded by hostile Defias Bandits, making escape difficult if unplanned.
- Requires some mob management – This quest requires managing multiple mobs, of which some players have no experience with in Hardcore Classic.
- The surrounding area is hostile – Escaping may attract additional mobs, leading to certain death.
How to Kill Princess Solo in Hardcore Mode
Many players fail this fight because they don’t use a proper strategy. Only encounter this quest solo if you have either mob control abilities (Mage, Warlock, Hunter, Rogue, Druid or Priest), or Damage over Time abilities ( Warlock, Priest or Druids). Do not attempt this quest solo if you aren’t one of the mentioned classes, unless you are overleveled, overgeared or in a party of 2 or more members.
Solo Strategy – Classes with Mob control abilities (Mage, Warlock, Hunter, Rogue, Druid or Priest)
- Clear a path for an escape route by killing Defias Bandits in the direction you intend to run if needed, and around a fence if you want to use this tactic.
- Apply a mob control CC from a distance to initiate the battle, usually on a Porcine Entourage. If you have multiple (like Mage’s Polymorph and Frost Nova), try applying the primary CC on Porcine Entourage while you CC her other add.
- Use the Fence trick if needed, Kite and heal as necessary if your class allows it, focus all damage on Princess. If the situation deems dangerous, then stop all combat and flee in the cleared direction.
- Once reset, run back to Princess’s corpse and loot for her Collar.
You will need to maintain Agro by attacking at least once every 10 seconds. Note that it isn’t uncommon for another Porcine Entourage to respawn and agro you if the battle isn’t over; hence, killing any porcine entourage is not recommended.
When Do You Need a Duo?
- If you are Underleveled (Level 9 or lower) – Melee players below 10 should not solo.
- If You Lack confidence, Nerves can lead to mistakes that could be fatal.
- If you are doing some challenge, the challenge impedes the ability to kite or CC effectively, as shown in the demonstration.
Duo Strategy
- Tank Keeps Aggro – One player maintains aggro using Threat Plates or direct taunts.
- DPS Attacks from Range – The other player uses spells, wands, or ranged abilities.
- If There’s a Healer, Prioritize Healing – If one is a Priest, Paladin, or Druid, focus on keeping the tank alive. – note – the ‘tank’ is any class that is being hit.
Trio or More: Safe Kill Strategy
- One Player Tanks – Warrior, Paladin, or Bear Druid holds aggro.
- One Player Heals – Priest, Druid, or Paladin focuses on healing.
- One or More Players Deal Damage – Ranged or melee DPS quickly burns Princess and her porcine entourage down.
- Stick to the Strategy – Though possible to do without in a group, use the fence trick if needed.
Thanks for reading this guide, and I hope it has helped you achieve your goal of completing the Princess must die Quest in Elywnn Forest in WoW Hardcore Classic.
