The Those Who Fell quest is one of the earliest Quests Horde players encounter in the Valley of Trials starting area of Durotar, and its vague map marker leaves many new adventurers standing inside the highlighted zone unsure what to do next. This guide walks through the exact objective, where each target hides, and how to efficiently close out the quest.
The quest also serves as a gateway to unique zones introduced by Project Ascension, so it is worth clearing early rather than skipping it in favor of louder, seemingly easier quests nearby.
Where are Uneasy Citizens
Uneasy Citizens appear as trolls locked in a distinctive cowering animation, typically tucked behind buildings, structures, and interior corners rather than out in the open. They do not carry standard quest markers overhead, which is the main reason so many players walk straight past them without noticing.

Common Spawn Locations
Uneasy Citizens have several reliable spawn points scattered around the Valley of Trials. The hut located just before the exit path frequently holds two Uneasy Citizens at once, and additional spawns appear directly behind Sakari, the Cauldron orc. Following the main path toward the cave entrance reveals several more.

Current spawn rates are high enough that camping a single location until the counter fills is a viable strategy, particularly during off-peak hours when fewer players are running the starting zone.
Using the Unremarkable Stone
Once an Uneasy Citizen is located, players need to use the Unremarkable Stone from their inventory or the Quest List panel on the right side of the UI. The stone’s flavor text describes it as channeling latent power to draw out scraps, fragments, and echoes of the target’s nightmares, and it must be used 5 times to complete the objective.

In our runs, competition for these spawns was fairly low, and spawn rates felt consistent enough to finish the quest from a single location. This is likely because most players focus on the louder, more marker-heavy quests nearby and do not realize this objective is even active.
Quest Objective and Requirements
The Those Who Fell quest, picked up by Esgramor at Level 3. This Quest tracks progress on a single line that reads ‘0/5 Spiritual Unrest’. To advance the counter, players must locate five Uneasy Citizens hidden across the Durotar starting area and interact with each one using the provided quest item.
No combat is required, which makes this a purely exploration-focused task suitable for brand-new characters. For a broader look at the surrounding zone and its collectibles, refer to the Worldforged Locations Durotar guide. World Forged Items are lootable items that usually exceed what Quest Rewards can provide.
Quest Turn-In and Project Ascension Access
Once the counter reaches 5/5, the turn-in NPC is Swa’li, located in the new camp northwest of the starting area within the Valley of Trials.

Completing Those Who Fell unlocks access to the custom zones added by Project Ascension, located northwest of the spawn area. A village with a long bridge leading to a miniboss, and a semi-dungeon area up north featuring spiders, bats, and dinosaurs. An encounter mix not typically found in the standard World of Warcraft universe.
