Shattrath City is one of the most important hubs in WoW Ascension, home to Season 4 PvP vendors, trainers, profession vendors, and a convenient central location for Outlands content. Whether you’re farming honor for Season 4 gear or just need access to Outlands zones, you’ll need to know how to reach Shattrath from your faction’s capital city.

This guide covers the complete path from Stormwind (Alliance) or Orgrimmar (Horde) to Shattrath City in Terokkar Forest of the Outlands.

Step 1: Get to Your Faction’s Portal Room

Your first step depends on which faction you’re playing. It is recommended to Pick Up Flight Paths Along the Way: While traveling through Hellfire Peninsula and Terokkar Forest, make sure to discover all flight masters you pass. This creates a connected flight network for future travel across Outlands zones.

Alliance: Stormwind Portal Room

If you’re Alliance starting in Stormwind:

  1. Head to the Mage Quarter (northwest section of Stormwind)
  2. Look for the tall tower, go up the spiral
  3. Enter the Outland Portal right near the entrance at the top

Horde: Orgrimmar Portal Room

If you’re Horde starting in Orgrimmar:

  1. Head to the Cleft of Shadow (southeast section of Orgrimmar, underground area)
  2. Look for the portal house as shown above
  3. Enter the Outlands Portal on the second floor, also visible from outside the building.

Step 2: Take the Outlands Portal

Once you’ve teleported through the Outlands Portal, this takes you to the large Green Portal – on the other side is the Outlands.

Step 3: Navigate Through Hellfire Peninsula

You’re heading toward Terokkar Forest, the zone directly south of Hellfire Peninsula.

Step 4: Enter Terokkar Forest and Follow the Path

Important Locations in Shattrath

Season 4 PvP Vendors:

  • Alliance: Left side as you enter, in a tent area
  • Horde: Right side as you enter, mirror position to Alliance

Auction House: Climb the central ramps to the upper tier, located in the city center

Callboard: Near the center of the city on the main platform

Flight Master: Located near the entrance for quick travel to other Outlands zones

Set Your Hearthstone: Shattrath has two different inns where you can bind your hearthstone:

  • Aldor Inn, located in the Aldor Rise section (upper left area of the city)
  • Scryer Inn, located in the Scryer’s Tier section (upper right area of the city)

Both provide instant teleports back to Shattrath with a 1-hour cooldown. Choose whichever is more convenient for you.

Use the Direct Portal Back. In the center of Shattrath City, there’s a portal room with direct portals back to your faction’s major cities (Stormwind for Alliance, Orgrimmar for Horde). This means you don’t need to retrace your steps through Outlands to get home.

Frequently Asked Questions

Thomas has been writing game guides for over a year, covering whatever he's currently sunk into. He doesn't write about anything he hasn't actually played, which usually isn't a problem since he plays too much of everything anyway. Rocket League ate enough of his life to get him to Grand Champion, and he's got several max-level, fully geared characters sitting in World of Warcraft from various binges over the years. Recent obsessions include ARC Raiders, Battlefield, For Honor, and Rainbow Six Siege, with plenty of others in rotation. He's also worked behind the scenes for a well-known gaming creator on video production and editorial pieces, so the guides here are shaped as much by that side of the industry as by the hours logged in-game. Every tip, build, and location in his guides comes from his own playthroughs. If he hasn't tested it, it doesn't get published.
