Ascension Warcraft Reborn’s Bronzebeard server has been experiencing significant population issues, with player numbers exceeding expectations and causing widespread stability problems. To address these concerns, Ascension has opened free character transfers from Bronzebeard to Malfurion, allowing players to escape the lag and disconnects that have plagued the overpopulated server.
The Bronzebeard server initially launched with a cap of 10,000-12,000 players but has since raised that limit multiple times. Current estimates suggest the server may host upwards of 15,000 players during peak times, leading to severe stability issues, especially during world boss events.
How to Transfer Your Character
The transfer process is entirely free and handled through the Ascension website. Players need to visit https://ascension.gg/en/user/characters/bronzebeard to access the transfer interface directly for their Bronzebeard characters. This process may take some time to complete fully, which is beyond your control, and you cannot take any action except wait.

Once you’re on the character page, you’ll see a transfer button available for eligible characters. Click this button, select Malfurion as your destination realm, complete any two-factor authentication if enabled, and confirm the transfer. The original character on Bronzebeard will be deleted once the transfer completes.
Transfer times typically take no more than an hour, though high-demand periods may extend this to several hours. Some players have reported queue times of up to 12 hours when attempting to transfer multiple characters simultaneously.
What Transfers With Your Character
Understanding what does and doesn’t transfer is crucial before making the move to Malfurion. Your character’s core progression, including levels, gear, and personal bank items, will successfully transfer to the new server.
The vanity collection system syncs across all servers, meaning players retain access to all cosmetic items they’ve unlocked. You can verify this by creating a level 1 character on Malfurion to check your vanity tab before committing to a complete transfer.
What Doesn’t Transfer
Several important systems and items will not carry over to Malfurion. The recovery system for deleted, disenchanted, and vendored items will be lost, so claim any needed items before transferring.
Active trials will not transfer, meaning players currently progressing through trial content should complete it on Bronzebeard first. Realm-wide banks are bound to their original server, so only personal bank items will move with your character.
All auction house listings must be cancelled before transferring, as active auctions will be lost. Similarly, mail does not transfer, so collect all incoming mail before initiating the process. Guild memberships won’t carry over, though guild leaders can request voucher reimbursement through support tickets.
One often-overlooked detail: auras on your character will not transfer
Name Priority and Reservations
Malfurion receives name priority for character transfers. If a character already exists on Malfurion with your Bronzebeard character’s name, you may need to choose a new name upon transfer.
However, if you reserved a name on Bronzebeard, that reservation carries over to Malfurion. This ensures players who used the name reservation system maintain their preferred character names across servers.
Important Considerations Before Transferring
Currently, Ascension has not announced any plans for return transfers from Malfurion back to Bronzebeard. This one-way limitation has caused some players to hesitate, waiting to see which server becomes the preferred long-term choice for the community.
The auction house economies differ significantly between servers. Before transferring, research Malfurion’s market prices for items you regularly buy or sell, as economic conditions may vary considerably from Bronzebeard.
Guild coordination is essential, as entire guilds cannot transfer together automatically. Guild leaders are required to submit support tickets for voucher reimbursement and coordinate member transfers to ensure guild cohesion on the new server.
Above is the exact location (Human Starting area) at roughly the same time. You can notice that the Bronzebeard server is busier, although both have healthy populations.
Why Transfer to Malfurion?
The primary motivation for transferring is escaping Bronzebeard’s stability issues. Malfurion experiences significantly fewer disconnects and lag issues, resulting in a smoother overall gameplay experience.
With Bronzebeard’s population continuing to grow rather than stabilize, future world boss events and high-traffic periods will likely continue causing server strain. Malfurion offers a more stable alternative for players seeking consistent performance.
