Palworld Codex

Palworld Breeding Calculator

Forward and reverse breeding for every Pal

A Palworld breeding calculator built from the 1.0 game files rather than a spreadsheet someone stopped updating. Pick two parents and it tells you the egg you will hatch; pick the Pal you want and it lists every parent pair that produces it, special recipes first. All 286 Pals are in it, with the hidden breeding power the game actually uses, the 78 fixed recipes that overrule the maths, and the 1.0 rule change that made Orserk, Grizzbolt, Shadowbeak, Lyleen and Faleris same-species-only. Hover any name for its stat card.

How to Use the Calculator

The tool has two tabs because breeders ask two different questions. Two parents answers “what do I get”: type both names and the egg you will hatch appears underneath, with a note when the pair is one of the special combinations. I want this Pal answers the harder one: type the Pal you are after and it lists every parent pair in the game that produces it, special recipes first, then the pairs that fall out of the ordinary maths, with a filter to narrow the list to a parent you already own. Every name in a result shows its stat card on hover (tap on mobile), so you can check work suitability or drops without leaving the page.

Every Pal card in the codex links straight here with the target already filled in, so if you arrive from Sekhmet or Anubis the reverse tab has already run. Parent order does not matter and the results are the same in either direction; what does matter in the game is that you have one male and one female of the two species you pick.

How Palworld Picks the Child

Every Pal carries a hidden breeding power, a single number the game uses for nothing else. When two parents breed, the game adds their two numbers, halves the total (rounding up), and the child is whichever Pal has the closest number to that result. When two Pals sit at exactly the same distance, a fixed priority order decides which one wins. That is the whole rule for the vast majority of the roster, and it is why the same child can come from dozens of different pairs: any two parents whose numbers average out to the same place give the same egg.

Two kinds of exception sit on top of the maths, and the calculator handles both. First, 78 parent pairings are hard coded to a specific child, and those always win over the formula; the combos chart lists all of them, and they are the only route to most subspecies such as Relaxaurus Lux or Jormuntide Ignis. Second, 28 Pals are excluded from the formula entirely and can never appear as the “nearest” result. Of those, 22 breed only from two of their own kind (Jetragon, Frostallion, Paladius, Necromus and the rest of the legendary and tower roster), four come only from a special recipe (Frostallion Noct, Lyleen Noct, Bellanoir, Faleris Aqua), and two, Astralym and Panthalus, have no recipe at all and must be caught.

Changed in 1.0: five recipes are gone

Five Pals that Early Access let you fuse from mixed pairs now breed only from two of themselves, exactly like the legendaries: Orserk (was Grizzbolt + Relaxaurus), Grizzbolt (Mossanda + Rayhound), Shadowbeak (Kitsun + Astegon), Lyleen (Mossanda + Petallia) and Faleris (Vanwyrm + Anubis). Type any of them into the reverse tab and the calculator says so and names the retired recipe. Catch one first; there is no other route.

Worked Examples

A few results you can type into the tool above and check for yourself. The numbers are the hidden breeding power values, shown so the rule is visible rather than magic; the arrow is the rounded-up average the game looks for.

ParentsBreeding powerEggWhy
Lamball + Chikipi3,050 + 3,080 → 3,065Teafant (3,070)Nearest number wins: the two starters make a Teafant.
Jetragon + Lamball70 + 3,050 → 1,560Bushi (1,560)A legendary and a starter meet exactly in the middle.
Relaxaurus + Sparkit1,090 + 3,010 → 2,050Relaxaurus LuxOne of the 78 fixed recipes; the formula is ignored.
Gildane + Ophydia730 + 230 → 480Anubis (480)One of 66 pairs that land on Anubis; both parents have to be strong.
Nyafia + Astegon1,250 + 490 → 870Sekhmet (870)One of 143 pairs for Sekhmet, the accessible end of that list.
Grizzbolt + Relaxaurus1,020 + 1,090 → 1,055ReptyroThe old Orserk recipe now gives an ordinary egg; Orserk is self-only in 1.0.

Sweepa is the Pal with the most recipes in the game, 603 of them, because its number (2,150) sits right in the middle of the roster where averages pile up. Anubis has 66 and its old early-game routes no longer reach it; Sekhmet has 143, from Nyafia + Astegon at the accessible end to Anubis + Icelyn if you already run a desert base.

What the Calculator Does Not Predict

The tool tells you the species, and only the species. It does not roll passives (the child draws from the parents’ passives with a chance of new ones), it does not pick the child’s gender, and it says nothing about the talents that decide how strong that egg turns out. Egg types, incubation times, the Cake recipe and the farm itself are the breeding guide’s job.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does this calculator disagree with results I remember from before 1.0?

The 1.0 release re-numbered the hidden breeding values for a much larger roster, so many old routes changed, and five endgame Pals (Orserk, Grizzbolt, Shadowbeak, Lyleen, Faleris) lost their mixed-pair recipes entirely. Everything here is read from the current game files; if a pair worked in 2024 and does not now, that is why.

Can I still breed Orserk from Grizzbolt and Relaxaurus?

No. Since 1.0 Orserk only hatches from two Orserk, and the same is true of Grizzbolt, Shadowbeak, Lyleen and Faleris. The calculator says so when you type them in and names the retired recipe, so you are not left wondering whether it is broken.

Does it matter which parent is male?

No. Species is decided by the two breeding values, and the calculator treats each pair as unordered. You still need one male and one female of the two species to get an egg at all.

Can I breed Astralym or Panthalus?

No. Neither has a recipe, special or ordinary, so the reverse tab tells you to catch them instead.

Which Pal has the most breeding combinations?

Sweepa, with 603 different parent pairs, because its breeding power sits in the middle of the roster where averages land most often. Bushi (271) and Quivern (302) are in the same band.

Why do the special combos matter so much?

Because most subspecies, and several of the strongest Pals, exist only through them. The formula can never produce Mossanda Lux or Blazehowl Noct; the combos chart is the list of those doors.

How to breed every Pal in Palworld

One page per Pal: every parent pair that produces it, the maths behind it, what it breeds into, and where to catch it. The number is how many pairs reach it in 1.0.
