Spinning Wheel

Updated 3 min read

The Spinning Wheel runs a single recipe and it is the only place in Graveyard Keeper 2 that makes Flax Thread. Fourteen recipes want that thread, including every bow, every fishing rod and all three candles, so a cheap bench in the yard sits underneath a surprising amount of the game. It costs three Wooden Plank, eight Stick and twelve Bronze Nails from the Yard desk. Four Flax returns four thread at Farming mastery three, which is a shovel or a rod rather than an axe, and the Tailor perk adds two per rank on that base. Once the Factory runs, an Assembly bench makes Fabric from Flax directly and skips the thread entirely.

The Spinning Wheel runs one recipe and it is the only place in the game that makes Flax Thread. Fourteen recipes want that thread, including every bow, every fishing rod and all three candles, so a cheap bench in the yard sits underneath a surprising amount of the game.

Three planks, eight sticks and twelve nails

The Spinning Wheel costs three Wooden Plank, eight Stick and twelve Bronze Nails, from the Yard build desk. The nails are the only part worth planning for, because twelve is more than most early benches ask.

Four Flax in, four thread out

The one recipe takes four Flax and returns four Flax Thread in a duration of four. It sits on the Farming track at mastery three, which is a shovel or a fishing rod rather than an axe.

One for one is the base rate, and the Tailor perk changes that. Each rank adds two to the output, so the first rank alone takes a four Flax craft from four thread to six and turns a break even bench into a profitable one.

Take Tailor before you spin in bulk

Tailor adds two thread per rank on a base of four, which is a fifty percent lift at the first rank for a single talent point. Spinning a large stock of Flax before taking it wastes half the crop.

The same perk also lifts Fabric at the Weaving Loom, so it pays twice along the same chain.

Fourteen things want the thread

The bows are the hungriest line. Simple Bow wants two, Reinforced four, Battle six and Heavy eight, and the rods climb the same way from two for a Basic Rod to sixteen for a Pro Rod. Those two lines alone will eat more thread than a single garden bed of Flax can keep up with.

All three candles want one each, alongside their Beeswax. A Simple Candle is two wax and one thread, and the dearer candles only raise the wax, so the thread cost of a candle never changes.

Above those sits Fabric, four thread at the Weaving Loom, and Lace at eight on the sewing table. The single largest ask in the game is Tailor Shop II in town, which wants forty.

The Factory offers a shortcut worth knowing about. An Assembly bench makes Fabric from sixteen Flax directly, skipping the thread step entirely, so once the conveyor line exists the Spinning Wheel is for candles, bows and rods rather than for cloth.

Graveyard Keeper 2 Spinning Wheel FAQ

How do you make Flax Thread in Graveyard Keeper 2?

At the Spinning Wheel, and nowhere else. Four Flax returns four Flax Thread at Farming mastery three.

What does the Spinning Wheel cost?

Three Wooden Plank, eight Stick and twelve Bronze Nails, built from the Yard desk.

Does any perk improve Flax Thread?

Tailor, which adds two thread per rank on a base of four. The first rank alone is a fifty percent lift, and it improves Fabric at the Weaving Loom as well.

What mastery does the Spinning Wheel need?

Farming three. That is a shovel or a fishing rod, not an axe, which catches people who only carry Building tools.

What uses Flax Thread?

Fourteen recipes. Every bow from two to eight, every fishing rod from two to sixteen, all three candles at one each, Fabric at four, Lace at eight, and Tailor Shop II at forty.

Do I still need the Spinning Wheel once the Factory is running?

For candles, bows and rods, yes. For cloth, no: an Assembly bench turns sixteen Flax straight into Fabric and skips the thread step.

How much thread does a candle need?

One, whichever candle it is. Simple, Pretty and Magnificent all want a single thread and differ only in their Beeswax, which runs two, three and four.
