Beehive

Updated 4 min read

The Beehive is the only renewable source of Honey and Beeswax you own rather than forage, and it sits behind a bridge most players never repair. The Vineyard is across the water to the left of the Inquisition Base, the game mentions the broken crossing exactly once, and the Repair Bridge option lives on the bridge itself rather than in any build menu. It wants four Wooden Plank, one Polished Bronze and four Piece of stone at Building mastery two. Beekeeping is fifty green and no other color, and the hive itself is cheaper than the bridge. Once placed it needs nothing: no queue, no materials and no worker.

The Beehive is the only renewable source of Honey and Beeswax you own rather than forage. It goes in the Vineyard, which is the problem, because the Vineyard sits behind a broken bridge and most players walk past it for hours.

First repair the bridge to the left of your base

The Vineyard is across the water to the left of the Inquisition Base, and the crossing starts broken. The game mentions it once, in a line asking what is over there across the broken bridge to the left, and then never brings it up again.

Walk to it and the Repair Bridge option appears on the bridge itself rather than in any build menu. It wants four Wooden Plank, one Polished Bronze and four Piece of stone, at Building mastery two.

The Polished Bronze is the only awkward part of that bill, and it comes off the Woodworking Workbench rather than an anvil. Everything else you already have by the time the mastery is there.

Beekeeping is fifty green and nothing else

The Beehive blueprint arrives with the Beekeeping technology, which costs 50 and no red or blue at all. Its parent is Garden Improvement I, so if your garden is already upgraded the node is one purchase away.

Green is the easiest of the three colors to come by, so this is a cheap node hiding behind an expensive looking prerequisite. Buying it before you can reach the Vineyard is wasted, though, because the hive has nowhere else to stand.

The hive itself is cheap

From the Vineyard build desk the Beehive costs two Wooden Plank, one Bronze Detail and six Bronze Nails. That is less than the bridge you crossed to reach it.

Place it and it works on its own. There is nothing to queue, nothing to feed it and no worker to assign, which makes it the rarest kind of building in the game.

The yield is a range, not a fixed number

A hive cycle returns three to six Honey and one to two Beeswax, rolled each time rather than paid flat. A poor roll is not a bug and there is no perk that lifts the floor.

Build one early and let it run. The wax is what the candle line needs, and a hive left alone for a week will have made more than any amount of foraging.

What else the Vineyard holds

The Vineyard desk is one of the smallest in the game at seven buildings, and the Beehive is the one most players cross for. Beside it sit the Vine Trellis at five Stick and three Peat, a Gardener Stand at four Wooden Plank, two Bronze Detail and six Bronze Nails, and a Porter Station at two Piece of stone and four Brick.

There is a Vineyard upgrade too, and it is late: six Farming Fertilizer III, six Advanced Detail and four Oiled Beam. Leave it until the fertilizer line is running, because each of those three is a chain of its own.

Below the Vineyard is the Vineyard Basement, which has its own desk and its own eight buildings. Crossing the bridge opens both, so one repair is worth two production areas rather than one.

Graveyard Keeper 2 Beehive FAQ

How do you get to the Vineyard in Graveyard Keeper 2?

Repair the broken bridge to the left of the Inquisition Base. The Repair Bridge option is on the bridge itself, not in a build menu, and it costs four Wooden Plank, one Polished Bronze and four Piece of stone at Building mastery two.

How do you build a Beehive?

Unlock Beekeeping for 50 green, then build it at the Vineyard desk for two Wooden Plank, one Bronze Detail and six Bronze Nails.

What does Beekeeping cost?

Fifty green points and nothing else. Its parent node is Garden Improvement I.

How much Honey does a Beehive give?

Three to six Honey and one to two Beeswax per cycle, rolled each time rather than paid at a flat rate.

Does the Beehive need a worker?

No. There is nothing to queue, nothing to feed it and no zombie to assign. Place it and it runs by itself.

Where can you put a Beehive?

Only the Vineyard. It appears on that desk and no other, which is why the bridge has to come first.

Is the Vineyard worth the trip?

Yes, because one bridge opens two areas. The Vineyard holds seven buildings and the Vineyard Basement below it holds eight more, each with its own build desk.

What is the hardest part of the bridge repair?

The single Polished Bronze. It is made at the Woodworking Workbench rather than an anvil, which is where most players go looking for it.
