This guide is based on the current PC, PS5, and Xbox settings menus in Call of Duty: Warzone after the Season 4 update. Every value here is competitive-tested and lifted from pro and high-tier configs. Tune your aim first, drop the visual fluff second, and make footsteps actually audible.
Best Warzone Settings – Quick Answer
Controller: 1.6 horizontal and vertical sensitivity, Dynamic curve, ADS transition Instant, right stick min 0 to 3, vibration off, Sprint Assist On. PC: Full Screen Exclusive, DLSS Quality, FOV 120, Shadow Low, Particles Low, Depth of Field Off, Nvidia Reflex On + Boost. Audio: Sucker Punch or Headphones Bass Boost audio mix, Mute Licensed Music On, footstep EQ boost at 500Hz to 2kHz.
Best Warzone Controller Settings
The Controller tab in Warzone is split into Inputs, Controller, Aiming, Aim Assist, and Motion Sensor Function. The biggest wins come from the Aiming Advanced Settings and the Deadzone Inputs panel inside the Controller subsection.
Inputs
| Setting | Best Value | |
|---|---|---|
| Input Device | Input Device | Controller |
| Button Layout (with paddles) | Button Layout (with paddles) | Default |
| Button Layout (no paddles) | Button Layout (no paddles) | Bumper Jumper Tactical |
| Stick Layout Preset | Stick Layout Preset | Default |
| Horizontal Stick Sensitivity | Horizontal Stick Sensitivity | 1.6 |
| Vertical Stick Sensitivity | Vertical Stick Sensitivity | 1.55 to 1.6 |
| Simplified Controls Preset | Simplified Controls Preset | Off |
| Low Motor Strain Preset | Low Motor Strain Preset | Off |
| Bumper Ping | Bumper Ping | Off |
| Swap LB/RB with LT/RT | Swap LB/RB with LT/RT | Off |
If you have back paddles, run Default and remap a paddle to Circle (slide/crouch) and another to live ping or jump. Without paddles, run Bumper Jumper Tactical, so crouch and jump are off the stick clicks, which keeps your aim thumb on aim.
Warzone is more of a left-to-right game than an up-and-down one, so horizontal can sit a touch faster than vertical. If 1.6 feels too quick at first, drop to 1.4 and slowly raise it once your tracking lines up with bot targets in the firing range.
Controller
| Setting | Best Value | |
|---|---|---|
| Controller Vibration | Controller Vibration | Off |
| Deadzone Inputs – Test Stick Deadzone | Deadzone Inputs – Test Stick Deadzone | Run before tuning |
| Left Stick Min | Left Stick Min | 1 to 3 |
| Left Stick Max | Left Stick Max | 67 to 70 |
| Right Stick Min | Right Stick Min | 0 to 3 |
| Right Stick Max | Right Stick Max | 90 to 100 |
| Left Trigger | Left Trigger | 0 (hair trigger) |
| Right Trigger | Right Trigger | 0 (hair trigger) |
Turn Controller Vibration off. Haptic feedback rattles your hands during every shot, which throws off recoil control and makes it harder to stay on target. Almost every high-tier Warzone player has vibration disabled.
Right Stick Min near 0 is the most important deadzone change you can make. The default value is huge, which means the first 15 percent of your aim stick does nothing. That ruins sniper precision and tracking. Use the in-menu Test Stick Deadzone tool first, then drop to 0 if your sticks are healthy or 3 if you have minor drift.
Left Stick Max at 67 to 70 means your character hits full sprint speed the moment you push the stick 70 percent of the way forward. Trigger dead zones at 0; turn them into hair triggers, so your shots and ADS register the instant you start to squeeze.
Older DualSense and Xbox controllers can drift even with the stock deadzones. Use the in-menu Test Stick Deadzone tool. If the marker moves on its own, your lowest safe value is your starting deadzone. Bump up by 1 until drift stops.
Aiming
| Setting | Best Value | |
|---|---|---|
| Sensitivity Multiplier | Sensitivity Multiplier | Default (1.0 across all) |
| Look Inversion On Foot | Look Inversion On Foot | Off (personal preference) |
| Aiming Advanced – Aim Response Curve Type | Aiming Advanced – Aim Response Curve Type | Dynamic |
| Aiming Advanced – Aim Response Curve Slope Scale | Aiming Advanced – Aim Response Curve Slope Scale | 1.0 |
| Aiming Advanced – ADS Sens Transition Timing | Aiming Advanced – ADS Sens Transition Timing | Instant |
| Aiming Advanced – Third Person ADS Correction | Aiming Advanced – Third Person ADS Correction | Assist |
| Aiming Advanced – Custom Sensitivity Per Zoom | Aiming Advanced – Custom Sensitivity Per Zoom | Off (or tuned per scope – see below) |
The dynamic response curve ramps up sensitivity the further you push the stick. Flick turns stay aggressive, but small thumb adjustments are smooth. Standard is the strongest aim assist pull for newer players. Linear is the choice for god-tier players who want pure 1:1 stick output with no curve assist.
ADS Sens Transition Timing Instant snaps you into the scope as fast as physically possible. Gradual adds a ramp-in delay that costs you the gunfight at close range.
If you run mixed-zoom loadouts, turn Custom Sensitivity Per Zoom On and set Low Zoom 0.80, 2x to 3x 0.80, 4x to 5x 0.95, 6x to 7x 1.0, 8x to 9x 1.10, High Zoom 1.15. That keeps every optic feeling balanced relative to your hipfire sensitivity.
Aim Assist
| Setting | Best Value | |
|---|---|---|
| Target Aim Assist | Target Aim Assist | On |
| ADS Aim Assist | ADS Aim Assist | On |
Both Target Aim Assist and ADS Aim Assist need to be on. Together, they give you slow-down (your reticle decelerates as it passes a target) plus rotational assist (your view rotates slightly with a strafing enemy). Turning either off kills a large portion of the aim-assist that controller players rely on.
You need to be moving your left stick (any direction) for rotational aim assist to activate. Standing still and aiming gives you only the weaker slowdown assist.
Motion Sensor Function
| Setting | Best Value | |
|---|---|---|
| Motion Sensor Function Behavior | Motion Sensor Function Behavior | Off |
| Motion Sensor Function Advanced Settings | Motion Sensor Function Advanced Settings | Default |
Motion sensor aiming (gyro) introduces drift and fights your stick aim. Leave it off unless you actively want to play with gyro and have remapped your inputs accordingly.
Best Warzone Settings for PC (FPS Boost)
The Graphics tab is split into Display, Quality, and View. The biggest wins come from disabling effects that hide enemies behind smoke, fog, and shadow inside the Quality subsections.
If you are coming from another shooter, the broad principles match what works in the Battlefield 6 best settings guide and the competitive settings guide for The Finals. Lower visual settings often produce a competitive advantage in fast-paced shooters because clutter and particle effects hide players.
Display
| Setting | Best Value | |
|---|---|---|
| Display Mode | Display Mode | Full Screen Exclusive |
| Display Monitor | Display Monitor | Your primary monitor |
| Display Adapter | Display Adapter | Your dedicated GPU |
| Screen Refresh Rate | Screen Refresh Rate | Highest available (144, 165, 240, etc.) |
| Display Resolution | Display Resolution | Native (1080p, 1440p, 4K) |
| Aspect Ratio | Aspect Ratio | Automatic |
| Display Gamma | Display Gamma | 2.2 monitor / 2.4 OLED TV |
| Nvidia Reflex Low Latency | Nvidia Reflex Low Latency | On + Boost |
Full Screen Exclusive gives Warzone full priority over your GPU. Borderless looks smoother when alt-tabbing, but costs 5 to 10 percent FPS and adds input lag. Use Borderless only if you actively use a second monitor during a match.
NVIDIA Reflex On + Boost is the single biggest input lag reduction in the menu. It cuts latency by up to 30 percent, and the aim feels instantly more responsive. AMD users should turn Anti-Lag On in the Adrenalin driver instead.
Power Saving
| Setting | Best Value | |
|---|---|---|
| Eco Mode Preset | Eco Mode Preset | Custom (Efficiency Off, 100%) |
| V-Sync Gameplay | V-Sync Gameplay | Off |
| V-Sync Menus | V-Sync Menus | Off |
| Custom Frame Rate Limit | Custom Frame Rate Limit | Gameplay match refresh / Menu 120 / Out of Focus 30 |
| Reduce Menu Render Resolution | Reduce Menu Render Resolution | Native |
| Pause Game Rendering | Pause Game Rendering | Off |
| Reduce Quality When Inactive | Reduce Quality When Inactive | 30 seconds |
| Focused Mode | Focused Mode | – |
Cap your gameplay frame rate at your monitor’s refresh rate (144, 165, 240). Capping at 250 is popular on high refresh monitors for headroom. The menu cap at 120 stops the GPU from boiling in the lobby and the Out of Focus cap at 30 saves power when you alt-tab.
HDR
| Setting | Best Value | |
|---|---|---|
| HDR | HDR | Off (PC) / On with calibration (HDR TV) |
| HDR Calibration | HDR Calibration | Run the in-game pattern |
HDR is only worth enabling if you have a proper HDR display with a peak brightness of 600 nits or higher. On standard PC monitors, it crushes shadow detail and hurts visibility. Console players on HDR TVs should run the calibration pattern instead of relying on Auto HDR.
Global Quality
| Setting | Best Value | |
|---|---|---|
| Graphics Preset | Graphics Preset | Custom |
| Dynamic Resolution | Dynamic Resolution | Off |
| Upscaling / Sharpening | Upscaling / Sharpening | DLSS Quality (Nvidia) / FSR Quality (AMD) / XeSS Quality (Intel) |
| DLSS Sharpness | DLSS Sharpness | 50 |
| DLSS Model | DLSS Model | Transformer |
| AMD FSR Frame Generation | AMD FSR Frame Generation | Off |
| Ray Tracing Reflections | Ray Tracing Reflections | Off |
| VRAM Scale Target | VRAM Scale Target | 70 to 80 (65 if stuttering) |
| Variable Rate Shading | Variable Rate Shading | Off |
AMD FSR Frame Generation and DLSS Frame Generation produce fake interpolated frames that add input latency. They look smooth in single player games but feel sluggish in competitive Warzone gunfights. Leave Frame Gen Off regardless of how many frames it shows on the counter.
Details and Textures
| Setting | Best Value | Why | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Texture Resolution | Texture Resolution | Normal (Low if 8GB VRAM, High on 12GB+) | Biggest VRAM consumer, stutters when overrun |
| Texture Filter Anisotropic | Texture Filter Anisotropic | Ultra | Free clarity, near zero FPS cost |
| Depth of Field | Depth of Field | Off | Blurs enemies at screen edge |
| Detail Quality | Detail Quality | Low | Removes clutter and dense foliage that hides enemies |
| Particle Resolution | Particle Resolution | Low | Smoke and explosions block enemy visibility |
| Bullet Impacts | Bullet Impacts | On | Zero FPS cost, useful tracer feedback |
| Persistent Effects | Persistent Effects | Off | Can cause stutter and latency over time |
| Shader Quality | Shader Quality | Low | Huge FPS gain, no visible difference in gunfights |
| On-Demand Texture Streaming | On-Demand Texture Streaming | Minimal | Streams during gameplay, causes stutters |
| Local Texture Streaming Quality | Local Texture Streaming Quality | Default (12GB+) / Low (8GB and under) | Saves VRAM headroom |
| In-Game Video Quality | In-Game Video Quality | Low | Only affects in-world TVs, FPS hogger otherwise |
Shadow and Lighting
| Setting | Best Value | |
|---|---|---|
| Shadow Quality | Shadow Quality | Low |
| Screen Space Shadows | Screen Space Shadows | Off |
| Occlusion and Screen Space Lighting | Occlusion and Screen Space Lighting | Medium (High on capable GPUs) |
| Screen Space Reflections | Screen Space Reflections | Off |
| Static Reflection Quality | Static Reflection Quality | High |
Shadow Quality Low strips out the heaviest cascaded shadows. Screen Space Shadows and Screen Space Reflections add a frame cost for cosmetic gain only. Occlusion and Screen Space Lighting are the exceptions in this section; keep them at Medium or higher, as dropping them too low flattens building interiors and makes enemy outlines harder to read.
Environment
| Setting | Best Value | |
|---|---|---|
| Terrain Quality | Terrain Quality | Low |
| Volumetric Quality | Volumetric Quality | Low |
| Deferred Physics Quality | Deferred Physics Quality | Off |
| Weather Grid Volumes Quality | Weather Grid Volumes Quality | Off |
| Water Quality | Water Quality | Off |
Volumetric Quality Low strips out fog and god rays that hide enemies. Weather Grid Volumes off removes the heaviest weather particle pass, which is critical on Verdansk and Urzikstan storm rotations. Deferred Physics Quality and Water Quality have no competitive value at higher settings.
View – FOV
| Setting | Best Value | |
|---|---|---|
| FOV | FOV | 120 (110 if FPS tight, 90 for max FPS) |
| ADS FOV | ADS FOV | Affected |
| Weapon FOV | Weapon FOV | Wide |
| 3rd Person FOV | 3rd Person FOV | 90 |
| Vehicle FOV | Vehicle FOV | Wide |
120 is the FOV most high-tier controller players run because it widens peripheral vision so flank attempts are easier to spot. If your rig struggles to hit your monitor’s refresh rate, drop to 110 (the all-rounder) or 90 for a cheap FPS gain since the engine renders less geometry.
View – Camera
| Setting | Best Value | |
|---|---|---|
| World Motion Blur | World Motion Blur | Off |
| Weapon Motion Blur | Weapon Motion Blur | Off |
| 1st Person Camera Movement | 1st Person Camera Movement | Least |
| 3rd Person Camera Movement | 3rd Person Camera Movement | Least |
| 3rd Person ADS Transition | 3rd Person ADS Transition | Off |
| Inverted Flashbang | Inverted Flashbang | On |
| Parachute Camera Perspective | Parachute Camera Perspective | 1st Person |
Motion blur exists to mask low frame rates. Turning World and Weapon Motion Blur off makes tracking moving enemies sharper. 1st Person Camera Movement at Least cuts the default head bob during sprint, slide, and damage, so your crosshair stays on target.
Inverted Flashbang On flips the bright white screen effect into a darker overlay, which is far easier to play through on large screens or OLEDs. Parachute Camera Perspective set to 1st Person keeps your hit registration consistent through the drop.
Best Warzone Audio Settings
The Audio tab is structured around Master Game Volume, Audio Devices, Global, Functionality, and Voice Chat. The footstep wins come from the Audio Mix in the Global section and Mute Licensed Music in place of a music volume slider.
Global
| Setting | Best Value | |
|---|---|---|
| Audio Mix | Audio Mix | Headphones Bass Boost (or Sucker Punch / Triarch with external EQ) |
| Mono Audio | Mono Audio | Off |
| Mute Game When Minimized | Mute Game When Minimized | On |
| Mute Licensed Music | Mute Licensed Music | On |
| Asymmetrical Hearing Compensation | Asymmetrical Hearing Compensation | Off (unless you have hearing loss) |
Sucker Punch has the tightest dynamic range of the stock audio mixes. Quiet sounds like footsteps get pushed up, while loud sounds like gunshots get pulled down. Headphones Bass Boost is the alternative many high-tier players prefer because it weights gun audio without crushing the footstep range. If you run an external EQ (like SteelSeries Sonar or Naughty EQ), use Headphones or Triarch instead so the game doesn’t double-process the signal.
Mute Licensed Music On replaces the old music volume slider. The lobby and gameplay music both disappear, which clears headroom for footstep audio.
Functionality
| Setting | Best Value | |
|---|---|---|
| Reduce Tinnitus Sound | Reduce Tinnitus Sound | On |
| Hitmarker Preset | Hitmarker Preset | MW3 |
Reduce Tinnitus Sound On cuts the long ringing after a flashbang, so you hear footsteps again sooner. The MW3 Hitmarker Preset produces the sharpest, crackiest sound, which is easier to register over gunfire than the softer MW2 or BO6 presets.
EQ Settings for Footsteps
The in-game audio settings end at the mix. The next level of footstep clarity comes from a parametric EQ on your headset software (SteelSeries Sonar, Logitech G Hub, Razer Synapse, Sound Blaster Command, or Naughty EQ). Apply this curve to where footstep impact, character gear, and reload audio actually sit on the spectrum.
| Frequency Band | Adjustment | Reason | |
|---|---|---|---|
| 60 to 250 Hz | 60 to 250 Hz | -2 to -3 dB | Cut explosions / engine rumble masking footsteps |
| 250 to 500 Hz | 250 to 500 Hz | -1 to -2 dB | Reduce low-mid mud and chest thump |
| 500 Hz to 2 kHz | 500 Hz to 2 kHz | +2 to +3 dB | Boost footstep impact and weight |
| 2 kHz to 8 kHz | 2 kHz to 8 kHz | +1 to +2 dB | Sharpen reloads, gun racking, gear shifting |
| 8 kHz+ | 8 kHz+ | 0 to +1 dB | Add air and ambient detail |
On PC, also enable Loudness Equalization in Windows. Right-click the speaker icon, open Sound Settings, click your output device, then Properties, then Enhancements (or Advanced on Windows 11). Loudness Equalization brings quiet detail up and caps loud peaks, similar to what Sucker Punch does in-game.
Best Warzone Movement Settings
The Movement tab splits into Intelligent Movement, Movement Behaviors, and Vehicle Behaviors. The biggest gains live in Intelligent Movement (turn Sprint Assist on) and Movement Behaviors (set Slide/Dive Behavior to Hybrid and clean up every default delay).
Intelligent Movement
| Setting | Best Value | |
|---|---|---|
| Sprint Assist | Sprint Assist | Tactical Sprint Assist |
| Mantle Assist | Mantle Assist | Off |
| Crouch Assist | Crouch Assist | Off |
| Corner Slice | Corner Slice | Off |
| Wall Jump Assist | Wall Jump Assist | Off |
Sprint Assist set to Tactical Sprint Assist is the most underrated movement setting in the menu. You hit full tactical sprint speed without clicking the left stick mid-fight, and the assist also activates strafe and backward sprint when enabled.
Corner Slice off keeps your reticle centered when peeking edges. Mantle and Crouch Assist off stop the game from triggering animations you didn’t ask for, which protects slide cancels and free aim.
Movement Behaviors
| Setting | Best Value | Why | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Slide / Dive Behavior | Slide / Dive Behavior | Hybrid | Click L3 + button = dive, no click = slide. Both instant |
| Automatic Airborne Mantle | Automatic Airborne Mantle | Off | Manual control over mantle timing |
| Sprint Restore | Sprint Restore | On | Resume sprint after reload/swap without re-pressing L3 |
| Slide Maintains Sprint | Slide Maintains Sprint | On | Carries tac sprint speed through slide cancels |
| Parachute Automatic Behavior | Parachute Automatic Behavior | Off | Auto-pull opens too high, slows landing |
| Wingsuit Activation | Wingsuit Activation | Manual | Stops auto-deploy at the wrong moment |
| Wall Jump Activation | Wall Jump Activation | Press | Removes hold-delay |
| Combat Roll Assist | Combat Roll Assist | Partial | Auto-rolls only when it would save you from fall damage |
| Slide / Combat Roll Behavior | Slide / Combat Roll Behavior | Tap to Slide | Defaults to slide over roll |
| Combat Roll Camera | Combat Roll Camera | Third Person | Spatial awareness mid-roll |
Tap-only settings for slide and dive add a 50ms input window where the game waits to see if you’ll tap again. That delay makes movement feel sluggish and lets enemies shoot you before your slide registers. Hybrid removes the wait.
Movement Advanced Settings
| Setting | Best Value | |
|---|---|---|
| Sprint / Tactical Sprint Behavior | Sprint / Tactical Sprint Behavior | Toggle |
| Tactical Sprint Activation | Tactical Sprint Activation | Single Tap Run |
| Auto Move Forward | Auto Move Forward | Off |
| Auto Door Peek | Auto Door Peek | Off |
| Grounded Mantle | Grounded Mantle | On |
| Plunging Underwater | Plunging Underwater | Free |
| Sprinting Door Bash | Sprinting Door Bash | On |
Tactical Sprint Activation set to Single Tap Run is the biggest hidden setting in this tab. Single Tap Sprint (the default) makes you regular sprint on a tap and only tac-sprint on a double tap. Single Tap Run flips it, so any forward stick push instantly hits full tactical sprint speed.
Auto Door Peek off prevents the game from auto-opening doors when you ADS at them, which can alert anyone on the other side. Grounded Mantle On is required to mantle through windows during a chase, you bounce off the frame. Sprinting Door Bash On lets you blast through doors without losing momentum.
Best Warzone Combat Settings
The Combat tab covers how your character interacts with weapons, equipment, and overlays mid-fight. Most defaults need light tuning to remove input delays.
Combat Behaviors
| Setting | Best Value | |
|---|---|---|
| ADS Behavior | ADS Behavior | Hold |
| Tactical Stance Behavior | Tactical Stance Behavior | Off |
| Tactical Stance Activation | Tactical Stance Activation | Toggle |
| Weapon Mount Activation | Weapon Mount Activation | ADS + Melee |
| Dedicated Melee Weapon Activation | Dedicated Melee Weapon Activation | Hold Melee |
| Body Shield / Finishing Move Behavior | Body Shield / Finishing Move Behavior | Prefer Body Shield |
| Armor Plate Behavior | Armor Plate Behavior | Apply All |
| C4 Detonation Activation | C4 Detonation Activation | Double Tap |
| Equipment Behavior | Equipment Behavior | Hold |
| Manual Fire Behavior | Manual Fire Behavior | Default |
Armor Plate Behavior on Apply All chains all three plates with a single press, so you’re never stuck mashing the button mid-fight. Body Shield set to Prefer Body Shield lets you grab a downed enemy as cover when you finish them in the open. Tactical Stance off prevents your character from accidentally canting the rifle during slide cancels.
Overlay Behaviors
| Setting | Best Value | |
|---|---|---|
| Scoreboard / Maps / Stats Behavior | Scoreboard / Maps / Stats Behavior | Toggle |
| Overlay Advanced – Prioritize Interact | Overlay Advanced – Prioritize Interact | On |
Prioritize Interact On lets you loot off downed enemies faster instead of accidentally reviving them when you stand on a teammate during a scrap.
Best Warzone Settings for PS5 and Xbox
On console, the controller, audio, movement, and combat settings from the sections above apply directly. The only platform-specific changes are at the system level: enable Performance Mode in the game, enable 120Hz output on the console, and disable vibration and PS5 trigger effects.
| Setting | Best Value | |
|---|---|---|
| In-Game Performance Mode | In-Game Performance Mode | On |
| 120Hz Output (System) | 120Hz Output (System) | On if TV supports |
| Controller Vibration | Controller Vibration | Off |
| PS5 Trigger Effect | PS5 Trigger Effect | Off |
| FOV | FOV | 120 (or 110 for stability) |
| Audio Mix | Audio Mix | Sucker Punch or Headphones Bass Boost |
| Mute Licensed Music | Mute Licensed Music | On |
The Sprint Assist, Hybrid slide/dive behavior, and deadzone changes covered in the controller and movement sections above apply identically on PS5 and Xbox. If your TV supports 120Hz, push that output mode at the system level and enable in-game Performance Mode so Warzone actually targets 120 FPS.
Interface and Visibility Settings
A few tweaks to the Interface tab make enemies stand out more sharply against the muted Verdansk and Urzikstan palettes. These are the most overlooked visibility settings in the menu.
| Setting | Best Value | |
|---|---|---|
| HUD Color Palette | HUD Color Palette | Tritonopia |
| Color Filter | Color Filter | Filter 2 |
| Color Filter Target | Color Filter Target | Both |
| World Color Intensity | World Color Intensity | 100 |
| Interface Color Intensity | Interface Color Intensity | 100 |
Tritonopia with Filter 2 punches the colors in Warzone so enemy outlines, marked targets, and gas circles read instantly. Color intensities at 100 keep the effect strong without the screen looking neon.
After any graphics tweak, restart Shader Pre-Loading from the Spray tab in Warzone. If shaders aren’t compiled for the new settings, you’ll stutter for the first three or four matches. Pre-loading wipes that up front.
