If you’re like me, 750+ hours in and your highest level is a level 38 Asuri, you’ll know that it is near impossible to get a legend to level 100 casually. By using this guide, you can learn how to AFK farm to gain experience and gold fast while AFK. Though you will need to provide input every 25-30 minutes.

Setting the AFK Farm up

Custom Game ⮞ Private Game ⮞ Game set up shown below

First, go into Brawlhalla’s Main Menu, Custom Game – Private Custom Game – Set the Game Rules as such – Mode: Crews, 99 Lives, Max players: 2, Time 25 Minutes – populate the custom game with a singular pushover bot.

The Match Rules are at the top of the User interface; press X to open the menu. Copy the above settings for best results

Choose a map, ensure you’ve landed on the map, leave via the Exit button on the Esc menu – rejoin once prompted – Make sure you do not press any buttons, and you should be witnessing a 1v1 bot match with your character moving without your input. If you aren’t moving, simply leave the game and rejoin.

If done correctly, rejoining the game should allow you to watch your character be played by a bot, and you can Alt-tab and do something else, or move away from your game irl

This will take around 25 Minutes, in which time you may do something else – such as watch YouTube, work if you’re remote, or simply walk away from the computer and do something else. This has, on average, the fastest XP per minute and the highest gold earnings per match.

Fastest way to get Coins – Most gold possible

The Farm will earn you 240-250 coins every 25 minutes, which is already pretty good, but you can further ensure you gain much more gold quickly by:

Trying to attempt as many daily challenges as possible by using the AFK Farm run; typically, you will complete any “5 KO with Weapon” Challenges if your selected character has 1 or 2 weapons that are needed for challenges – this rewards 250 Coins each, potentially netting 500 Coins in a single game through daily challenges alone.

Using the AFK Farm to get level-up rewards – this will give you 120 Gold per 2 levels after level 6, though it loses effectiveness the higher level you get, as more experience is required per level. At extremely low levels, you can gain up to 4-5 levels in one run.

If done correctly, your first run of the day on a low-level character could net up to 1,000 coins in a single 25-minute run. Though realistically, you should get, hopefully, 500 coins on most runs if you’re only just starting out and have a lot of low-level characters.

Fastest way to get XP – How much experience do we gain from AFK Farming compared to normal gameplay?

Other people reported gaining 240 Gold, and almost 1,000 Experience – this is roughly 40 Experience and still the standard rate of 10 gold per minute. Another user also reported almost identical amounts of experience and gold gains. While not game-changing, it is very efficient and worthwhile to run in the background with little to no work if you’re able.

At lower levels, 1000 experience would be equal to up to 4 levels, which isn’t bad in less than 30 minutes.

During my own 25-minute game tests, with more parameters such as small maps only, easy bot, high weapon spawn rate, no gadgets (The aim is to maximize interaction/ko between the two), I chose the smallest map I could find – I’d gained 945 Experience, and 230 Gold which is less than the others reported, but still a very good of a boost.

It is most likely the bot difficulty (Set it to easy) and the map size that affect how much experience you gain. I’d chosen a medium bot and a larger map and gained half as much experience.

In a 25-minute game, where I’d not done optimal parameters, I’d gained: 470 XP and 115 Gold – roughly 18.8 XP per minute, and 5 Gold per minute – double the experience as normal, half what setting the parameters would’ve gained. This time, I used Medium Difficulty and didn’t specify a map; I chose a relatively large 1v1 map so we could see how often the bots lost lives and how often the experience and gold gained matched.

Third 25-minute test, same parameters, but with 300% damage – I’d gained next to nothing. This actually is considered an exploit, and Ubisoft has nerfed this to the ground, meaning they’re at least aware that normal damage AFK Farms exist and have left them alone.

Some characters are just better than others for this. This is just the nature of how bots use weapons and signature moves – Ransoms’ bot doesn’t use them effectively, though it still earns 90% of its potential. (Also look at the level-up reward!)

Fourth test – same parameters, though I’d chosen a level 6 Ransom vs a low-defense Ember, and actually yielded less Experience. I estimate it is due to the Chakrams’ weird behavior when used by bots: they don’t string them as intended, meaning low damage and low knockout ability. Still obtained 913 Experience and 223 Gold alongside a 120 Gold level-up reward.

This was a relatively quick game as I won 3-0, this still took me 4 minutes and rewarded 114 experience, and 28 gold, meaning I earned less than 10 coins, and roughly 20 experience per minute.

In normal games, you can expect to earn 100xp per 5-minute game – slightly more in ranked, slightly less in some modes. Roughly 20 experience and 10 gold per minute. To maximize gold earnings, you could aim for lower levels to gain experience, as some level-ups reward additional gold, bringing the total earned in 25 minutes to 450+ Gold.

While AFK Farming is not really an exploit, it could be nerfed in the future, becoming less effective or even completely useless. Brawlhalla supports AFK farming in other formats, as it also has advertisements you can watch for some gold; however, this is relatively limited to a few a day and doesn’t award experience, so it is inferior to this method. This AFK Farming method has been up for years, so it is unlikely to be patched, but players should take this at their own discretion, as I am not an official staff member and can’t guarantee anything. Using 3rd-party software to automate the setup / enhance the AFK farm is considered a breach of the TOS and is almost certainly bannable, so manual input is recommended.

I’d personally done this to try to obtain some Achievements in Steam, such as the Established Main – reach level 40 with a legend, Brawling 24/8 – Reach level 25 with 8 different Weapons – As I had an Asuri at level 38, and required just 3 levels from my Teros to achieve those two pesky time-consuming achievements. Otherwise, 99.9% of my playtime is in real games, primarily Ranked or Public Custom Games. If you get bored mid-way, you can take over the bot and play the remaining of the game yourself. I’d written this article while AFK Farming and testing different variables to ensure I understood AFK Farming and could explain it to you guys.

Let us know what amounts of experience and gold you guys got from this farm – We’re interested to know and may add this to the post to further evidence that this AFK Farm works.

Thomas has been writing game guides for over a year, covering whatever he's currently sunk into. He doesn't write about anything he hasn't actually played, which usually isn't a problem since he plays too much of everything anyway. Rocket League ate enough of his life to get him to Grand Champion, and he's got several max-level, fully geared characters sitting in World of Warcraft from various binges over the years. Recent obsessions include ARC Raiders, Battlefield, For Honor, and Rainbow Six Siege, with plenty of others in rotation. He's also worked behind the scenes for a well-known gaming creator on video production and editorial pieces, so the guides here are shaped as much by that side of the industry as by the hours logged in-game. Every tip, build, and location in his guides comes from his own playthroughs. If he hasn't tested it, it doesn't get published.
