This guide walks you from the Lifepod spawn point straight to the closest confirmed cave full of Silver. It covers the main entrance, a second entrance for variety, the hazards to watch for inside, and what Silver is actually used for once you have stockpiled it.
Both route bearings start from your Lifepod, which is the universal spawn point for every player. The cave can be entered from either of two points along the same general bearing.
First Route: 110m North til you see an orange structure
Step out of the Lifepod and turn until your compass reads North. Begin swimming north, keeping the bearing steady, until you have covered roughly 110m.
Subnautica 2 shows a compass strip across the top centre of the HUD, with N, E, S, and W markers and a bearing in degrees. It is easy to miss on a first playthrough, but every direction in this guide is measured against it. If you cannot see it, check your HUD settings and make sure the compass overlay is enabled.

You will see a tall orange rock structure rising up from the seabed. At the base of this structure, cracks under it can be swum through. These cracks are the entrance to the cave system that holds the Silver deposits.
Watch Out for Toxic Sponges
The tunnel inside the cracks is lined with Toxic Sponges. These are the plants that release poison clouds when disturbed, and brushing past them will damage your character.

Keep a small gap between yourself and the sponges as you swim through. If you don’t want to take the damage, there is another entrance talked about below, around 50m further North.

The Air Pocket
Deeper inside the cave, you will reach a small Air Pocket tucked against the ceiling. Swimming up into it refills your oxygen, which is a lifesaver if you are running low while mining.

The first batch of Silver deposits is embedded in the walls and floor of the cave around this pocket. Mine what you can see before topping up your oxygen and continuing further in.
Extra Deposits Opposite the Air Pocket
Once you have refilled at the Air Pocket, turn around and head through the gaps on the opposite side. The cave system continues beyond the pocket and holds additional Silver relatively nearby.

Most of the Silver in this deeper section is tucked into the undersides of ledges and rock overhangs. Roll your camera upwards and check the ceiling as you swim through, since these veins are easy to miss if you only scan the walls and floor. You could end up at the alternative route discussed below.

Second Route: 190m North, Near the Anita Statue
If you would rather approach the cave from a different angle, keep heading North past the 110m mark until you reach the Anita Statue at around 190m from the Lifepod. The statue is a large, easily recognizable landmark, so you will know when you have arrived.

Directly behind the Anita Statue is a second mouth into the same cave network. Entering here lets you skip the Toxic Sponge corridor on the primary path, which is useful if you have not yet cleared the sponges or do not want to take poison damage on a fresh dive.
Both the 110m and 190m entry points lead into the same cave system. Once you know the internal layout you can pick whichever entrance fits your current oxygen, gear, or risk tolerance for the run.
What Is Silver Used For?
Silver is one of the more versatile early metals in Subnautica 2. It feeds into electronics, oxygen gear, base power, and your first vehicle, so it is worth stockpiling on every trip to the cave.
| Recipe | Why It Matters | |
|---|---|---|
| Wiring Kit | Wiring Kit | Feeds into most basic electronics crafts |
| Advanced Wiring Kit | Advanced Wiring Kit | Upgraded variant used in higher tier builds |
| Computer Chip | Computer Chip | Requires 2 Wiring Kit, 1 Gold, 1 Silver |
| Air Tank | Air Tank | Extends your oxygen pool for longer dives |
| Hydroelectric Turbine | Hydroelectric Turbine | Generates base power from water currents |
| Wakemaker | Wakemaker | Movement and light tool, useful at night |
| System Chips | System Chips | Components for advanced base facilities |
| Dedicated Cores | Dedicated Cores | Higher tier base facility components |
| Tadpole | Tadpole | Early game vehicle build chain |
Raw Silver can also be fed into the Processor to produce Silver Ingots, which feed into higher-tier crafts. If you are pushing toward base electronics or your first vehicle, Silver is often the bottleneck, so a return trip or two through the specific cave is usually worthwhile.

Tips for Farming Silver
Stack Trips
Bring an empty inventory and clear the cave in one full sweep, including the deposits past the Air Pocket. Returning to base with a full load is faster than making short repeat runs.
Clear the Sponge Corridor Early
Cut out the Toxic Sponges on your first visit so future runs through the primary entrance are completely safe. After that, you can skip the Anita Statue route unless you want a change of pace.
