Subnautica 2 Console Commands

Build: 34 (Changelist 113109) | Build Date: 2026-05-10 | Status: Early Access

All commands confirmed below are sourced directly from the game’s build files. Because Subnautica 2 is in Early Access, specific command syntax may change in future updates. We will keep this list updated as new builds are released.

Warning

Console commands are intended for single-player use. Using them on multiplayer servers you do not own may cause desyncs or kick you from the session.

How to Open the Console

Press the backtick key (`) or tilde (~) to open the developer console, the standard for Unreal Engine games. If neither key works, try F3. Some builds have this, some do not – in the instance your build doesn’t have one, you will need to install mods to use console commands.

https://www.nexusmods.com/subnautica2/mods/41 – A Nexus Mod that re-adds Console commands, unzip it, and the keybind for that will be F2. If you need help installing and setting up, follow our guide here: Adding Console Commands to Subnautica 2

Once the console is open, type your command and press Enter to execute it. Commands are not case-sensitive. You can chain multiple commands in a single line by separating them with & (e.g. god & unlockall & fastswim).

Pro Tip

The game also supports a Macro system: you can pre-write lists of commands in .txt files and run them with RunMacro [filename]. This is great for setting up a consistent testing loadout.

Player Commands

god

Makes your character completely invincible. You will take no damage from creatures, the Blight, crushing depth, or oxygen deprivation. This is the broadest invincibility cheat and the fastest way to explore without risk.

kill

Instantly kills your character and triggers the death and respawn sequence. Useful if you are stuck in geometry or want to quickly respawn at your last bed or respawn point.

invisible

Makes all creatures completely unaware of your presence. Leviathans, predators, and the Blight will not react to you. Combine with god if you want full safety without affecting creature behavior.

fastswim

Significantly boosts your swimming speed. This is not a toggle , type fastswim again to disable it. The internal developer macros use this alongside god for rapid map traversal during testing.

unlockall

Immediately unlocks every blueprint and recipe in the game, including base modules, tools, and equipment. This removes the need to scan fragments or find databoxes.

Survival Attribute Commands

The attr command sets any tracked survival stat to a specific value. Subnautica 2 tracks three core survival attributes: Oxygen, Food, and Water.

Command Example Effect
attr oxygen [value] attr oxygen [value] attr oxygen 100 Sets your oxygen tank to the specified level. Use attr oxygen 1 to test drowning.
attr food [value] attr food [value] attr food 100 Sets your hunger/food stat to the specified level.
attr water [value] attr water [value] attr water 100 Sets your hydration/water stat to the specified level.
Pro Tip

attr oxygen 100 is extremely useful when teleporting with goto or coords — you will arrive with a full tank and avoid immediately drowning in deep water.

Inventory and Equipment Commands

equip [item]

Equips the named item directly to your active hand slot. Item names are not case-sensitive. Some items have both a short name and a full internal ID , both forms work.

Command Item
equip Builder equip Builder Builder Tool (Base Construction)
equip Scanner equip Scanner Scanner
equip Knife equip Knife Knife
equip Fins equip Fins Fins (worn equipment)
equip OxygenTankSmall equip OxygenTankSmall Small Oxygen Tank
equip oxygentank equip oxygentank Standard Oxygen Tank
equip wakemaker equip wakemaker Wakemaker Tool

item [item] [amount]

Adds items directly to your inventory. The amount parameter is optional , omitting it adds one of the item. You can stack multiple item commands together using &.

Command Example Notes
item titanium [n] item titanium [n] item titanium 100 Adds Titanium to inventory.
item quartz [n] item quartz [n] item quartz 100 Adds Quartz to inventory.
item copper [n] item copper [n] item copper 100 Adds Copper to inventory.
item Food item Food item Food Adds a Food item to inventory.
item Water item Water item Water Adds a Water item to inventory.
item Scanner item Scanner item Scanner Adds a Scanner to inventory without equipping it.
item Knife item Knife item Knife Adds a Knife to inventory.

Teleport and Movement Commands

goto [locationname]

Teleports your character to a named world location. These are developer-defined waypoints placed throughout the map, primarily used for QA testing but also useful for rapid exploration. Location names are not case-sensitive.

Command Area Description
goto CoralGardens_Shallows_WelcomeCenter goto CoralGardens_Shallows_WelcomeCenter Coral Gardens / Shallows The starter area welcome center — likely near the Lifepod crash site.
goto CoralGardens_Shallows_Lifepod goto CoralGardens_Shallows_Lifepod Coral Gardens / Shallows The Lifepod location in the shallows. Useful for returning to the starting point.
goto CoralGardens_Plateaus_GrandCave goto CoralGardens_Plateaus_GrandCave Coral Gardens / Plateaus A large cave system in the plateau biome.
goto AxumRuins_Powerplant_BlightCore goto AxumRuins_Powerplant_BlightCore Axum Ruins The Blight Core inside the Axum power plant — a major story location.
goto PlayerDrownSmokeTest goto PlayerDrownSmokeTest Debug / QA Internal QA waypoint used for drowning tests. Teleports to a specific depth.
Pro Tip

After using goto, immediately run attr oxygen 100 to refill your oxygen tank — some goto destinations are deep underwater and you may arrive with low oxygen.

coords X=[x] Y=[y] Z=[z] & P=[pitch] Y=[yaw] R=[roll]

Teleports you to a precise set of world coordinates with full rotation control. This is the most specific teleport command and is useful when you know the exact coordinates of a location you want to reach.

Example: coords X=-332446 Y=431714 Z=135 & P=-11 Y=-151 R=0

AutoMove [pathname]

Moves your character automatically along a pre-recorded movement path stored in the game files. This is a developer benchmarking tool used to replay scripted camera and movement paths. The path names correspond to the VideoTours JSON files in the game content folder.

Base Building Commands

freebuild

Allows you to place all base modules and structures without spending any resources. This is the primary cheat for creative base building , combine it with unlockall so that every module is available in the builder menu.

fastbuild 1

Removes any build-time delays so modules are placed instantly. Use fastbuild 0 to restore normal build times. This stacks with freebuild for instant, cost-free construction.

unlimitedpower

Gives your base infinite power output. Solar panels, thermal reactors, and bioreactors are no longer required to keep your base running. All powered modules operate without any energy draw.

BaseToggleSupportCheck

Disables the structural support validation that normally prevents certain base piece combinations. With this toggled off, you can place modules in configurations that would otherwise be blocked by the structural integrity system.

Pro Tip

For a full creative build experience, run all four at once: freebuild & fastbuild 1 & unlimitedpower & unlockall

Level and Multiplayer Commands

open [level]

Loads a level by its internal name, or connects to a server by IP address. This is a standard Unreal Engine command. The two main playable levels in the current build are L_Main (the ocean world) and L_ClientLobby (the multiplayer lobby).

Command Effect
open L_Main open L_Main Loads the main game world (singleplayer or as host).
open L_ClientLobby open L_ClientLobby Returns to the multiplayer lobby screen.
open L_Main?listen?bIsLanMatch open L_Main?listen?bIsLanMatch Starts a LAN listen server and loads the main world. Other players can join via your local IP.
open [IP] open [IP] Connects to a game server at the specified IP address (e.g. open 192.168.1.5).

ShowPDA / HideModal

ShowPDA forces the PDA interface to open. HideModal closes any active modal, overlay, or pop-up UI element. Both are primarily utility commands for developers but can be useful if the UI gets stuck in an unexpected state.

Tag System (AddTag / RemoveTag)

Subnautica 2 uses Unreal Engine’s Gameplay Tag system to apply and remove cheat flags. This is an alternative to the shorthand commands , for example, AddTag Cheat.GodMode is equivalent to god. Tags are useful for scripting or macro files where you want explicit control over enabling and disabling individual effects.

Tag Equivalent Command Effect
AddTag Cheat.GodMode AddTag Cheat.GodMode god Enables invincibility.
RemoveTag Cheat.GodMode RemoveTag Cheat.GodMode (disable god) Disables invincibility.
AddTag Cheat.Invisible AddTag Cheat.Invisible invisible Makes you invisible to all creatures.
RemoveTag Cheat.Invisible RemoveTag Cheat.Invisible (disable invisible) Restores creature awareness.
AddTag Cheat.HideMask AddTag Cheat.HideMask (no equivalent) Hides the player's mask/HUD overlay. Used in developer video tours.
RemoveTag Cheat.HideMask RemoveTag Cheat.HideMask (no equivalent) Restores the mask/HUD overlay.

Bio-Ability Commands

Subnautica 2 features a bio-ability system where players can unlock biological powers. The giveability command grants these directly without needing to unlock them through normal gameplay. The following ability IDs are confirmed in the current build, primarily as debug/damage testing tools.

Command Ability ID Description
giveability GA_DamageTarget giveability GA_DamageTarget GA_DamageTarget Grants the ability to deal a fixed damage amount to a target.
giveability GA_DamageTargetScaled giveability GA_DamageTargetScaled GA_DamageTargetScaled Grants the ability to deal scaled/variable damage to a target.
giveability GA_SwitchDamageType giveability GA_SwitchDamageType GA_SwitchDamageType Grants the ability to switch between damage types for testing.
giveability GA_DamageChecker giveability GA_DamageChecker GA_DamageChecker Grants a debug ability that checks and displays damage values.
Info

These are QA/debug ability IDs. Additional gameplay bio-abilities (such as Camouflage, Echo Location, and Electrostatic Discharge) exist in the game’s audio and content files and may be grantable with giveability once their full ability IDs are known.

Performance Commands

These are standard Unreal Engine console commands for monitoring performance. They work in Subnautica 2 exactly as they would in any other Unreal Engine game.

Command What It Shows
stat fps stat fps A live frames-per-second counter in the top corner of the screen.
stat unit stat unit A detailed performance overlay showing Frame ms, Game thread ms, Draw thread ms, and GPU ms.

Macro System

Subnautica 2 supports a macro file system that lets you pre-write command sequences and execute them with a single console command. Macro files are plain .txt files stored in the game’s Subnautica2/Content/Macros/ folder. Each line in the file is one console command.

To run a macro, type RunMacro [filename] in the console , you do not need to include the .txt extension. The game ships with several built-in macros you can use immediately.

Command Commands It Runs Purpose
RunMacro Starting Items RunMacro "Starting Items" equip Builder, equip OxygenTankSmall, equip Fins, item Knife, item Scanner, item Food, item Water Sets up the default new-game loadout.
RunMacro Equipment Pack RunMacro "Equipment Pack" equip scanner, equip knife, equip builder, equip wakemaker, equip oxygentank, equip fins Equips a full set of exploration tools.
RunMacro Base Pack RunMacro "Base Pack" equip builder, item titanium 100, item quartz 100, item copper 100 Gives 100 of each basic building resource.
RunMacro Superman RunMacro Superman god, fastswim, fastbuild 1, unlockall, invisible Activates all major cheats at once.
RunMacro SculptDebug RunMacro SculptDebug equip habitat_builder, god, freebuild, unlimitedpower Full creative building mode setup.
RunMacro SculptDebugNoSupports RunMacro SculptDebugNoSupports RunMacro SculptDebug, BaseToggleSupportCheck Creative building with structural checks disabled.
Pro Tip

RunMacro Superman is the fastest single command to get god mode, fast swimming, all blueprints, invisibility, and instant building all at once.

Recent obsessions include ARC Raiders, Battlefield, For Honor, and Rainbow Six Siege, with plenty of others in rotation. He's also worked behind the scenes for a well-known gaming creator on video production and editorial pieces, so the guides here are shaped as much by that side of the industry as by the hours logged in-game.
