This guide covers exactly where to find the car, how to handle the random Aftermarket spawn system, what the car costs, and how to tune it for record-setting runs. The unlock method is listed first, with the spawn mechanics and performance details explained afterward.
The Car Collection menu says the 1994 MX-5 Forza Edition appears as a reward in Seasonal Events or the Festival Playlist. That is currently inaccurate. The only reliable way to obtain it right now is as an Aftermarket purchase.
How to Unlock the 1994 MX-5 Forza Edition
The MX-5 Forza Edition spawns at a single Aftermarket Car location on the map. The slot rotates between several different cars, so it may take a few attempts before the MX-5 appears. Once it does, the car costs 450,000 Credits to purchase. If you think you’d like a little more money, follow our Get Money Fast Guide.

Step-by-Step Unlock
Open the World Map
From Tokyo City, look north on the world map. Find the Festival Drag Strip, located just north of Maze House. The map markers nearby will read Festival Kilometer Drag Meet and Festival Chase Street Racing.

Check the Parked Car
When you arrive, turn around. The Aftermarket Car is parked behind your spawn point. If it is the MX-5 Forza Edition, interact and purchase it for 450,000 Credits.

Re-Roll If It Is Not There
Common spawns include the Dodge Demon and 2013 Ford Mustang. If the MX-5 is not parked there, you will need to re-roll the spawn using one of the methods below.

Players consistently miss the Aftermarket spot because they look forward toward the drag strip when they fast travel. The car is parked behind the spawn marker. Turn around as soon as you arrive.
Re-Rolling the Aftermarket Spawn
The Aftermarket Car parked at the drag strip changes over time, with player actions, or upon a game restart. There are two reliable ways to force a re-roll if the MX-5 has not appeared yet.
Method 1: Restart the Game
The fastest re-roll method is to quit to the main menu or fully close the game, then reload your save. Fast travel back to the Drag Meet and check the spot again. This re-rolls the spawn instantly without spending any Credits. Usually takes 1-2 Minutes to reload and fully return to the same spot. There is roughly a 20% chance of the 94′ Aftermarket Miata respawning, so we wouldn’t expect to have to do too many reloads.
Method 2: Buy Out the Current Car
Purchasing the car currently parked in the slot removes it from the slot, and a new vehicle will eventually take its place. This is faster than waiting for a natural rotation but is expensive if the spawned car is itself a high-value vehicle. Restarting is usually the better option for budget runs.
The Dodge Demon costs 81k CR, the Ford Mustang costs 64k CR, and the BMW M3 ’08 costs 67k Cr.

Once done, spawn away and back – there should be something else in its place. Though if brought, they don’t appear again, so the chances of the car we want spawning are higher.
Some players report finding the MX-5 on the first try, while others need five or more re-rolls. The spawn is genuinely random, so be prepared to repeat the restart cycle several times before the right car appears.
Cost and Performance at a Glance
| Value | |
|---|---|
| Purchase Price | 450,000 CR |
| Bone Stock Class | S2 |
| Bone Stock PI | 850 |
| Tuned Top Speed | 296-297 mph |
| Marketplace Tune Cost | ~47,000 CR |
| Total Investment | ~500,000 CR |
The car enters your garage as an S2-class vehicle with a Performance Index of 850. Even bone stock, the MX-5 is competitive on PR Stunts and street races. Applying a community tune is what pushes it into record-setting territory.
Best Tunes for the MX-5
Open the Pause Menu, head to Creative Hub, then Tunes, and search the trending tunes for the 1994 Mazda MX-5 Miata Forza Edition. Two main categories are worth applying depending on the activity you plan to grind.
Top Speed Tunes
The best-trending top-speed tunes push the MX-5 to 476–478 km/h (296-297 mph). Apply the highest available top speed tune and pair it with strong handling, since a 0.9 difference in handling stat often outweighs a 5 km/h difference in top speed on the in-game leaderboards.
Drag Tunes
Dedicated drag tunes prioritize launch and acceleration over cornering. These are ideal for the Festival Kilometer Drag Meet and similar straight-line events. Trending drag tunes typically cost between 30,000 and 50,000 Credits to apply.
Trending tunes change daily. Check the Creative Hub regularly because new community tunes often outperform older versions. Tunes cost a one-time Credit fee to apply and stay on the car permanently.
Why It Is the Best Car in the Game
The 1994 MX-5 Forza Edition does not have the highest top speed in Forza Horizon 6, but Japan’s road network is built around tight corners and winding mountain passes. Acceleration and grip matter far more than raw top end on most of the map, and the MX-5 excels at both.
The car is light enough to launch through tunnels at 300+ mph and still hold a clean line through corners. That combination of speed retention and handling is why the same MX-5 keeps appearing on PR Stunt, Speed Trap, and Speed Zone leaderboards across the community.
Where the MX-5 Wins
The MX-5 is the strongest car for PR Stunts that involve any cornering, technical street races, mountain runs, and most Speed Zones across Japan. It also handles dirt run-ups to Danger Signs well because of its low weight and high acceleration.
When to Use Something Else
For pure straight-line top speed records, the 2012 Nissan GTR Forza Edition is the stronger choice. Long Speed Traps with no turns favor the GTR’s raw top end. The MX-5 can also be tricky to keep nose-down after a big Danger Sign launch, so heavier cars are sometimes more reliable for landing-focused stunts.
What Aftermarket Cars Are
Aftermarket Cars are vehicles sold at dedicated map locations for less than their Autoshow price. They can appear as stock copies or pre-modified with custom tunes built for specific playstyles such as Road Racing, Drifting, Off-Road, or Drag.
Some Aftermarket Cars are Forza Edition vehicles, which carry Credit or XP boosters built into the car itself. This is exactly the case with the 1994 MX-5, and it is one of the cheapest ways to acquire any Forza Edition vehicle without grinding Wheelspins.
How the Spawn System Works
The car displayed at any Aftermarket location is not permanent. The slot rotates after enough time has passed, or once the current car has been purchased. A new vehicle takes its place after the player returns to the area, so checking these spots regularly is the most reliable way to find rare spawns.
Restarting the game also re-rolls the spawn, which is why a full game restart is the fastest unofficial way to chase a specific Aftermarket car. Every spawn is genuinely random, so persistence is the only guaranteed strategy.
