Answering the question many have, ‘How do you do the Weekly Challenge?’ The Arcade Mode Weekly Challenge running from January 6th to 14th is the Heralds of Ragnarok, a 4-Chapter Legendary Challenge offering exclusive Rewards upon completion. A gear score of 108 is recommended; however, I was able to complete the first chapter with a gear score of 0 as a self-appointed challenge.

Weekly Challenge Guide: Heralds of Ragnarok Chapter 1 (January 6–14)

The Heralds of Ragnarok

“Hear my voice, warrior. I’ve sensed your strength. I’ve seen your victories. I know your heart yearns for glory. Follow my lead and I will make your wish come true…”

Overview: The Heralds of Ragnarok is a 4-Chapter Legendary Challenge, potentially offering exclusive rewards upon completion. The recommended Gear Score is 108. This is not massively relevant for this stage of the Challenge, but it may be easier the higher Gear Score you have.

Hero Selection

Choose a hero you are very comfortable with; it is easier to have a faster-moving hero, but it isn’t required. Familiarity is more critical than raw stats. I chose Nobushi at Gear Score 0 as a demonstration of how strategy matters more in this battle than gear score.

Chapter 1: Shachihoko

“I know of a Samurai who can make you stronger. She is well-versed in the dark arts and knows how to draw life from her enemies. If you defeat her and her shadows, you will steal her power…”

Chapter: The first of four chapters.

Enemy Layout: Two Shinobi with heal on hit, and bleeding out. Then, the Leader who has a shield buff that grants double health.

Goal: Defeat all Enemies. The two Shinobi are already inflicted with bleed effects, and then defeat the leader.

Strategy

Start by positioning yourself behind the stairs to avoid attracting the Leader, wait for the two Shinobi to attack, then begin kiting them south and letting them bleed to death.

Run while dodging their orange attacks (warning, sometimes you may have to dodge twice in a row). It is ideal to ensure they remain close together, allowing for an attack with similar timing that makes dodging easier. The bleed effect will gradually drain their health until they die. Try to avoid taking hits, but it is not the end of the run if you are hit. Note that they heal on every successful hit on you.

Follow the safe red route shown above. In my run, one Shinobi took longer to die, and I took it upon myself to engage in combat to finish him off; however, you can carry on kiting and let them bleed out for minimal risk.

Once both Shinobi are defeated, the Leader will start running towards you. Try to fight as normal, but be aware that his attacks deal less damage and that he has a Shield Buff. This should be much easier than trying to combat all 3 at once, as they have fast attacks which can easily overwhelm you while healing themselves.

Lore Benefit

Completing this chapter grants a health-on-hit bonus in later chapters, lore-wise. In the later stages, you are healed for every successful hit you make.

This can be used to your advantage, as you can defeat minions to gain health at later Chapters.

Alternative Route

An alternative strategy is to engage all three opponents at once, focusing solely on attacking the leader. Block their attacks to build up your Revenge Bar, and continue fighting the leader until he is defeated. While you only need to kill the leader to succeed, I find my method easier and safer for those who struggle with blocking quick attacks.

Thomas has been writing game guides for over a year, covering whatever he's currently sunk into. He doesn't write about anything he hasn't actually played, which usually isn't a problem since he plays too much of everything anyway. Rocket League ate enough of his life to get him to Grand Champion, and he's got several max-level, fully geared characters sitting in World of Warcraft from various binges over the years. Recent obsessions include ARC Raiders, Battlefield, For Honor, and Rainbow Six Siege, with plenty of others in rotation. He's also worked behind the scenes for a well-known gaming creator on video production and editorial pieces, so the guides here are shaped as much by that side of the industry as by the hours logged in-game. Every tip, build, and location in his guides comes from his own playthroughs. If he hasn't tested it, it doesn't get published.
