Wasp Driver

Weight: 0.6 kg | Stack Size: 3 | Sell Value: 640 Raider Coins | Source: ARC Enemy Drop (Wasp)

This guide covers the best maps, locations, and strategies to farm Wasp Drivers quickly. Unlike container loot, Wasp Drivers only drop from killing Wasp enemies, so understanding where these drones spawn is critical for success.

How to Get Wasp Drivers

Wasp Drivers are obtained exclusively by killing and looting Wasp enemies. Wasps are fairly common flying ARC drones that patrol various areas across all maps. Unlike Hornets, Wasps lack shields on their front, making them easier to take down but still dangerous if ignored.

Wasp Are A Flying Arc You Can Obtain Wasp Drivers From
Pinged A Wasp Which Told Me Its Identity

If you are unsure whether a flying ARC is a Wasp or another drone type, use the ping function to tag it. Your character will call out the enemy type, helping you identify Wasps versus Hornets, Snitches, or Spotters. Wasps are the ones with mini turrets that fire at you without any frontal shield.

Pro Tip

Snitches can call in reinforcements when they spot you, often spawning additional Wasps. If you need Wasp Drivers quickly, consider letting a Snitch alert before killing it to bring more targets to your location.

Best Wasp Driver Locations

Wasps spawn on all five of the maps below, but certain locations have significantly higher drone density. Community data shows Dam Battlegrounds as the clear leader for Wasp farming, followed by Blue Gate and the remaining maps with roughly equal spawn rates. Since the new Arc Firefly and Comets were added, the population of Wasps has lowered.

Dam Battlegrounds

Dam Battlegrounds accounts for 50% of all reported Wasp Driver finds, making it the undisputed best map for farming. The northern half of the map contains the highest concentration of flying ARC enemies, including Wasps, Hornets, and Snitches.

The Hydroponic Dome Complex is widely considered the single best location for Wasp farming. This area in the northern section of Dam Battlegrounds has all three drone types spawning consistently. Content creators recommend heading here immediately after spawning, as the dense ARC presence guarantees multiple Wasp encounters per raid.

The Power Generation Complex serves as an excellent secondary location on Dam Battlegrounds. Located near the Hydroponic Dome Complex, this area also features heavy drone activity. An efficient farming route involves clearing the Hydroponic Dome Complex first, then moving to Power Generation Complex before extracting.

Info

The southern portion of Dam Battlegrounds has minimal Wasp spawns according to community mapping data. Focus your farming efforts on the northern half of the map for best results.

Additional Wasp spawns on Dam Battlegrounds can be found around the Dam Control Tower and the Checkpoint areas. These locations see occasional drone patrols, though not as consistently as the Hydroponic Dome Complex.

Blue Gate

Blue Gate contributes 17% of Wasp Driver finds, according to community data. While not as high as Dam Battlegrounds, Blue Gate offers a viable alternative, as its high population/visibility makes for easier Wasp Hunting.

The Warehouse Complex area on Blue Gate sees regular Wasp patrols. The open spaces between buildings make it easier to spot incoming drones and engage them from cover. The Container Yard also features drone activity, particularly during events.

Blue Gate tends to have fewer players specifically farming ARC enemies, which can mean less competition for Wasp kills. The trade-off is lower overall drone density compared to Dam Battlegrounds and Blue Gate.

Buried City

Buried City accounts for 11% of Wasp Driver finds. The urban environment provides plenty of cover for engaging drones, though Wasps can be harder to spot among the tall buildings.

The Commercial District and areas around Red Tower see occasional Wasp patrols. The verticality of Buried City means drones often fly between buildings at varying heights. Listen for the distinctive sound of Wasp rotors to locate them before they spot you.

Stella Montis

Stella Montis also contributes 11% of Wasp Driver finds. This isn’t a great map to find Wasp in, they’re harder to find, often in annoying areas with many other hostile players, high risk of losing all items on death as this is primarily a PvP Map.

The Loading Bay, and Lobby attract ARC presence, often alongside other Arc like Bastions, or Shredders.

The Spaceport

The Spaceport rounds out the maps at 11% of Wasp Driver finds. The industrial areas and launch facilities see drone activity, though Spaceport is generally considered better for container loot than ARC farming.

The Shipping Warehouse area and in between the cluster of houses in the south feature occasional Wasp spawns. If you are already on Spaceport for other objectives, opportunistically engage any Wasps you encounter.

Riven Tides

There isn’t much community data for Wasp Driver on Riven Tides yet. Wasps have 2 reported spawn points on Riven Tides, and ARC Couriers and husks here can hold them too. This area is on the quieter side, which makes for a calmer run.

Pendola Pass

Pendola Pass only arrived with the latest update, so reports are still thin. The game’s loot data fills the gap. The ARC loot on Pendola Pass sits in Fallen Emperor. Reported finds come from Wasp husks. This area is on the quieter side, which makes for a calmer run.

How to defeat Wasps

They are a fairly low-level common flying arc; however, there is a trick to defeating them quickly:

Red Highlighted Areas Are Its Weaknesses Shoot Those And It Should Fall Quick

To defeat a Wasp fast, shoot out its rotors. Once the rotors are destroyed, the Wasp will fall to the ground and explode. After it crashes, approach the wreckage and loot the body. You will typically receive 1 Wasp Driver per Wasp killed, along with other materials like ARC Alloy, Power Cells, and ammo.

What Do the Stats Tell Us

Dam Battlegrounds dominates Wasp farming with 50% of all reported finds. Blue Gate follows at 17%, while Buried City, Stella Montis, and The Spaceport each contribute 11%. For dedicated Wasp Driver farming, Dam Battlegrounds should be your primary destination.

Since Wasp Drivers drop exclusively from Wasp enemies rather than containers, the “container” data shows Arc Courier at 100%. The ARC Courier is the crashed ARC machine you break open on the surface, not the Wasp itself. Focus on finding and killing Wasps rather than searching containers for this item.

Events That Increase Wasp Spawns

Certain events increase the likelihood of encountering Wasps and obtaining Wasp Drivers. While events are not required to find Wasps, they can significantly boost your farming efficiency when active.

Night Raid leads with 15% increased Wasp activity. Several other events contribute 8% each: Cold Snap, Electromagnetic Storm, Harvester, Hidden Bunker, Husk Graveyard, Launch Tower Loot, Locked Gate, Lush Blooms, Matriarch, Prospecting Probes, and Uncovered Caches.

Events that add Wasp spawns
  • Cold SnapA cold front has swept in with snowfall, and a considerable drop in temperature. The air might feel crisp and brisk at first, but beware of frostbite. Candleberry bushes are bearing valuable fruit - they are now ripe for the picking.
  • Electromagnetic StormLightning strikes batter the surface; frying electronics, disrupting ARC machines, and electrocuting unsuspecting Raiders.
  • HarvesterA mysterious harvesting machine has appeared, heavily guarded by the feared Queen. What kind of riches are to be found within?
  • Hidden BunkerSomeone has hacked the Outskirts Bunker's security system. Find the 4 buttons to unlock the doors, and be the first to plunder the treasure within.
  • Husk GraveyardSomething has caused ARC machines to go down on their own in great amounts, leaving husks scattered around Topside. A better opportunity to gather information and parts has rarely presented itself.
  • Launch Tower LootSomeone has locked off the Launch Tower, hiding all their hard-earned loot at the top. ARC seems to have ramped up their defenses in response to the heightened activity.
  • Locked GateA clandestine group has activated the Gate's emergency shutdown protocol. 4 key cards need to be obtained to override it, and uncover whatever they're hiding.
  • Lush BloomsThe weather has been unusually agreeable lately, and vital plants and fruits have been thriving. Get out there and gather your food before it is all gone.
  • MatriarchA Matriarch has been sighted nearby. Her children seem hell-bent on keeping her from harm.
  • Prospecting ProbesARC seem to have entered a period of extended probing, sending guarded probes down en masse.
  • Uncovered CachesStorms have unearthed a number of old Raider Caches, but they are rigged to explode should they be exposed for too long. Hurry up and find them all.
Difficulty No Free Loadout
Night RaidRaiders have been finding especially good loot behind locked doors, and keys have been more plentiful. The heightened Raider activity has attracted more ARC than usual.
  • Fewer active Return Points
  • No active Raider Hatches
  • Increased loot value
Pro Tip

Check the event timers before deploying. If Night Raid or another Wasp-boosting event is active on Dam Battlegrounds, prioritize that map for maximum farming efficiency.

What Is a Wasp Driver

Wasp Drivers are classified as Rare ARC components in Arc Raiders. The in-game description reads: “Can be recycled into ARC Alloy.” Its tooltip also notes that it “Can be thrown, and will explode if shot”, for 80 damage in a 5 m radius. Each Wasp Driver weighs 0.6 kg, stacks up to 3, and sells for 640 Raider Coins.

Wasp Driver Featured Image

When recycled at the Raider Den, a Wasp Driver yields 1x ARC Alloy (200 coins) and 1x Electrical Components (640 coins) for a total recycle value of 840 coins. This means recycling provides +200 more coins than selling directly.

Why You Need Wasp Drivers

Wasp Drivers serve multiple purposes in Arc Raiders progression, making them worth stockpiling rather than selling immediately. Between projects, quests, and workbench upgrades, you will need a total of 33 Wasp Drivers to complete all requirements.

What needs Wasp Driver in Arc Raiders: 20 for Trophy Display Phase 2, 8 for Gunsmith Level 2, 3 for Weather Monitor Phase 4, 2 for Trifecta
What needs Wasp Driver – 33 in total, 20 of them for Trophy Display Phase 2

Trophy Display Project

The largest requirement is the Trophy Display project. Phase 2 of 5, titled “Soaring Menaces,” requires 20 Wasp Drivers. This permanent project showcases your prowess against flying ARC enemies and rewards valuable items upon completion.

Weather Monitor System

The Weather Monitor System project requires 3 Wasp Drivers for Phase 4 of 5, titled “Humidity.” This is a separate project from the Expedition caravan, so it never held up your Expedition progress.

Trifecta Quest

Shani offers the Trifecta quest, which requires collecting 2 Wasp Drivers along with Hornet Drivers and Snitch Scanners. Completing this quest rewards a outfit camo, Raider Hatch Key, Defibrillators, and a Dam Control Tower Key.

Gunsmith Workbench

Upgrading your Gunsmith workbench to Level 2 requires 8 Wasp Drivers along with other components. This upgrade is essential for crafting better weapons and should be prioritized.

Recycle vs Sell

Wasp Drivers sell for 640 Raider Coins each. Recycling yields materials worth 840 coins total (1x ARC Alloy + 1x Electrical Components). Recycling gives you 200 more coins in value, making it the better option for pure profit.

We recommend keeping all Wasp Drivers until you have completed the Trophy Display, Weather Monitor System, Trifecta quest, and Gunsmith upgrade. Only recycle extras once you have gathered the 33 total needed for all requirements.

Tips For Farming Wasp Drivers

Wasp Drivers stack to 3 and weigh 0.6 kg each. Plan your inventory accordingly when farming. A dedicated Wasp farming run on Dam Battlegrounds can net 3-6 Wasp Drivers if you clear the Hydroponic Dome Complex and Power Generation Complex thoroughly.

Bring a weapon with good accuracy for hitting Wasp rotors. Assault rifles and SMGs work well for taking down drones quickly. Aim for the rotors specifically, as body shots are less effective. Once a Wasp falls, it will emit black smoke from its wreckage, making it easier to locate for looting.

Use your Safe Pocket to protect Wasp Drivers if you are carrying valuable ones and expect PvP encounters. Since you need 33 total, losing a stack of 3 to another player sets back your progress significantly.

Pro Tip

Enable Night Mode in your audio settings. This balances loud sounds and quiet sounds, making it easier to hear Wasp rotors approaching. This tip works for all games with the setting, not just Arc Raiders.

Run multiple short raids focused specifically on Wasp farming rather than one long expedition. Head directly to the Hydroponic Dome Complex on Dam Battlegrounds, kill all Wasps in the area, and extract quickly. Spawns refresh each raid, making quick focused runs more efficient than full map exploration.

Expect 6-12 runs to gather the 33 Wasp Drivers needed for all projects and upgrades. With consistent farming at the Hydroponic Dome Complex, you should complete all requirements within a few play sessions.
