Arc Raiders Where to Find Steel Springs – How to Get Springs

Steel Springs are one of the most important crafting materials in Arc Raiders. Players need this uncommon item for extended magazines, weapon mods, and early expedition projects. Every Extended Mag III requires 9 Steel Springs when you factor in the Mod Components needed, making springs a constant priority for endgame players.

The Spaceport has an underground section accessible by pressing E on the map to switch layers. This underground area contains a hidden room with excellent spring spawns, breach containers, and advanced mechanical components. Start at Rocket Assembly, clear the surface loot, then head underground. Extract at the Central Elevator for a quick loop.

Pro Tip

Turbo Pumps give 3 Steel Springs ONLY when salvaged in-game during a raid. If you extract with them and recycle at base, you get Mechanical Parts and Oil instead. Always salvage Turbo Pumps before extracting!

Dam Battlegrounds

Dam Battlegrounds contributes 23% of Steel Spring finds. The Primary Facility in the middle of the map is the standout location. According to experienced farmers, this single building provides 60-80% of all springs from a Dam run. The main room contains breach containers, drawers, and freight container cabinets.

Check under the stairs for bags that can drop blueprints and medical supplies. The freight container drawers are the best source for Rusted Tools, which recycle into Steel Springs. The route follows a giant square around the entire Primary Facility complex, ending near lockers for additional loot.

Two other notable locations on Dam Battlegrounds include Pipeline Tower for container looting and Power Generation Complex where ruined cars spawn. Steel Springs can be found on rear seats or under the hood of these vehicles. The Hydroponic Dome Complex and Water Treatment facilities also contain Industrial containers worth searching.

Info

Some community members recommend Dam Battlegrounds over Spaceport despite lower overall percentages. The Primary Facility offers a concentrated farming experience with less travel time between spawns.

Stella Montis

Stella Montis accounts for 14% of Steel Spring finds. The Loading Bay is the primary location, featuring Shipping Container Cabinets that can spawn springs. This area is smaller than the Industrial zones on other maps but offers a quick farming loop with nearby extraction points.

Look for springs on shelves and trolleys throughout Loading Bay. The containers here are less contested than Spaceport or Dam, making it a good alternative for solo players who want to avoid PvP encounters.

Riven Tides

Riven Tides has plenty of reported Steel Spring finds. The Industrial loot on Riven Tides sits in Weighing Checkpoint, Customs House and Stacking Yard. Customs House and Stacking Yard are medium-threat areas, so it’s busy but manageable. Worth the trip if you’re after Steel Spring.

These maps work better as secondary options when you happen to be nearby rather than dedicated farming destinations. Focus on Breachable Containers and Lockers in Industrial POIs when exploring these maps for other objectives.

Where Are Steel Springs Found

Steel Springs spawn primarily in Industrial areas, marked on the map with the factory silhouette icon. These zones contain warehouses, machinery rooms, and mechanical facilities where Steel Springs naturally appear in containers, on shelves, and on trolleys.

Industrial area icon

I personally found the most Steel Springs in Shipping Container Cabinets, with most of them containing at least 1-2x Steel Springs

They can also be found in breachable containers such as Servers and other breachables. Be more aware of your surroundings to truly find all the Steel Springs.

Alternatively, you can buy 10 Steel Springs from Celeste for 6 assorted seeds each, per day.

What Is A Steel Spring

Steel Springs are classified as Uncommon Topside Material items in Arc Raiders. Each Steel Spring weighs 0.25 kg, stacks up to 15, and sells for 300 Raider Coins at vendors. The in-game description reads: “A tightly wound coil of metal. Used to craft a wide range of items. Can be recycled into scrap metal.”

Steel Spring Description

When recycled at the Raider Den, a Steel Spring yields 2x Metal Parts worth 150 coins total. Selling directly for 300 coins is more profitable unless you specifically need Metal Parts for other crafting. Avoid salvaging Steel Springs in the field unless your inventory is completely full.

Why You Need Steel Springs

Steel Springs serve multiple critical purposes in Arc Raiders progression, making them worth farming rather than selling immediately.

What needs Steel Spring in Arc Raiders: crafting Extended Mags and the Torrente; Expeditions 1 to 3 took 15 each
What needs Steel Spring – crafting, plus 15 in each of Expeditions 1 to 3

Expedition Requirements

Steel Springs were part of the Foundation project, Phase 1 of Expedition 1, 2 and 3, at exactly 15 Steel Springs each. Expeditions 4 and 5 swapped them for Canisters and Magnets. Expeditions are on hold right now, though: the 5th Expedition departed on 29 September 2026, and Embark says they return in early 2027 with major changes.

Crafting Uses

Note

Steel Springs are essential for weapon attachments and grenades. They are required to craft the Torrente weapon, all three tiers of Extended Light Mags, Extended Medium Mags, and Extended Shotgun Mags, plus the Shrapnel Grenade. Every Extended Mag III needs 5 springs directly plus 2 Mod Components, and each Mod Component requires 2 springs. This means a single max-level extended magazine costs 9 Steel Springs total.

Given their Uncommon status and constant demand for attachments, Steel Springs should be stockpiled whenever possible. Endgame players report needing hundreds of springs to fully kit out their weapon collection.

Buying from Celeste

The trader Celeste sells Steel Springs for 6 Assorted Seeds each, with a limit of 10 per day. This provides a guaranteed 10 springs daily without any looting risk. While expensive compared to farming, this option helps bridge gaps when you need just a few more springs to complete a craft.

Recycle vs Sell

Steel Springs sell for 300 Raider Coins each. Recycling yields 2x Metal Parts worth 150 coins total. Selling gives you 150 more coins directly, making it the better option for pure profit.

We recommend keeping Steel Springs for crafting until you have completed your expedition projects and built the attachments you need. Only sell extras once your stockpile exceeds your foreseeable crafting needs.

Items That Recycle Into Steel Springs

Several items can be recycled or salvaged to obtain Steel Springs. Knowing these alternatives dramatically increases your spring income without relying solely on direct spawns.

Cooling Coil yields 2 Steel Springs when recycled. Ruined Accordion gives 3 Steel Springs, making it one of the best conversion items. Spring Cushion provides 2 Steel Springs and can be found in Residential areas. Rusted Tools recycle into 1 Steel Spring each and are extremely common in Industrial zones, especially in freight container drawers.

Warning

The Turbo Pump is unique: salvaging it IN-GAME during a raid gives 3 Steel Springs, but recycling it at base gives Mechanical Parts and Oil instead. Always salvage Turbo Pumps before extracting if you want springs!

Additional items that recycle into springs include Magnetron (1 spring), Mod Components (1 spring), and Advanced Mechanical Components (1 spring). However, most players need these items for crafting rather than recycling.

Tips For Farming Steel Springs

Steel Springs stack to 15, and each weighs 0.25 kg. Plan your inventory space accordingly. A dedicated farming run at Primary Facility on Dam Battlegrounds or Rocket Assembly on Spaceport can net 10-15 Steel Springs including items that recycle into springs.

Springs do not only spawn in containers. Look for them sitting on shelves and trolleys throughout Industrial areas. Rusted Tools especially tend to spawn in the open on top of surfaces rather than inside searchable containers.

Solo runs are recommended over group play. Experienced farmers report that group lobbies tend to be more hostile, while solo PvE lobbies allow safer looting. If you kill a lot of ARC enemies, you will return to PvE lobbies quickly even after defending yourself against other players.

Run multiple short raids rather than one long expedition. Hit Primary Facility or Rocket Assembly, grab your springs and recyclable items, and extract quickly. The spawns refresh each raid, making quick loops more efficient than full map exploration.

Pro Tip

Try farming during Cold Snap or Nitrate events for better loot quality. Always put valuable springs in your Safe Pocket immediately after picking them up to protect them if you die.

Buy your 10 daily springs from Celeste to supplement farming. At 6 Assorted Seeds each, this costs only 60 seeds per day for guaranteed springs with zero risk. Combined with dedicated farming runs, you should have a full stack for crafting within a few play sessions.
