Whether you are grinding to upgrade Scrappy or working through the Fruit Mix crafting recipe, Prickly Pears are one of the more elusive resources to farm in ARC Raiders. Unlike Apricots and Lemons found at Olive Grove, Prickly Pears only spawn on a few maps, and their locations require checking specific Cacti Plant bushes. The good news is that heading to the right spots can yield 2 to 4 Prickly Pears per raid.
Where are Prickly Pears found?
Prickly Pears are found only on the ground near Cacti Plant bushes. These distinctive desert-type circular plant bushes are easy to identify once you know what to look for, but the fruit itself can be surprisingly rare. Unlike Olive Trees and other Bushes, which you kick to harvest, Cacti Plant bushes cannot be interacted with. You simply need to check the ground around them.

Not all Prickly Pears are visible at first glance. They sit on the ground beneath Cacti Plant bushes waiting to be picked up. The fruit is bright red but can easily hide behind leaves and get lost in the ground.
Check the Ground Around Cacti

A complete farming run checks the base of every Cacti Plant bush before moving on. Expect to spend multiple runs searching for them as spawns are inconsistent. You may find several in one raid and none in the next. They are famously rare, so it may take multiple runs to get the amount of Pears needed.

Extraction pointSouthern Perimeter (Best Location)
The very bottom of the map, near the perimeter wall, has the highest concentration of cacti. This area sits at the southern edge and contains 4 to 5 cactus plants grouped together. Check the base of each cactus for red Prickly Pears on the ground.
Field Depot Area
The Field Depot landmark in Buried City has a cluster of cacti nearby. This location is convenient because it sits closer to the extraction points. You can typically find 1 to 2 Prickly Pears in this area, and Agave plants also spawn here for additional harvesting.
Church Ruins
South of the main map near the Church Ruins, you will find additional cacti scattered around small buildings. This serves as a solid backup location when the southern perimeter has already been looted. The area also contains Agave plants.
Top Right Cacti Cluster
The top right section of Buried City has another cluster of cacti with Prickly Pears underneath. This location sees less player traffic than the southern areas, making it a good alternative if you spawn on the northern side of the map.
Dam Battlegrounds
Dam Battlegrounds serves as a secondary farming location for Prickly Pears. The spawns are less concentrated than in Buried City, but the map offers multiple spots worth checking if Buried City is unavailable or has unfavorable modifiers.

Extraction pointBehind Power Generation Complex
The area behind the Power Generation Complex contains several cacti plants. Start here and loop around the outskirts of the map to maximize your chances. This location connects well to other spawn points.
Red Lakes Raider Hatch
Near the Red Lakes Raider Hatch, you will find more cacti in the open terrain. This area is exposed, so be cautious of other players and ARC enemies. The spawn point is convenient for quick extraction via the nearby hatch.
Near Scrapyard
The Scrapyard area has cacti dotted around its perimeter. Check behind containers and along the edges of the location. You may also find Apricots in this region, allowing you to farm multiple resources in one run.
Behind Electrical Substation
The Electrical Substation has cacti plants growing behind the main structure. This spot is off the beaten path and often overlooked by other players. A quick detour here can yield 1 to 2 additional Prickly Pears.
Patton House Area
The area around Patton House contains additional cacti spawns. This location works well as part of a farming route that circles the outskirts of Dam Battlegrounds. Check the ground carefully as spawns can be sparse.
Spaceport
Spaceport is another valid map for Prickly Pear farming. While less commonly discussed than Buried City or Dam Battlegrounds, the map does have Cacti Plant bushes that can spawn Prickly Pears. Check the desert areas around the outskirts of the map.

Extraction pointThe outskirts of Space Port have some plants, but they are spread out quite thinly. Therefore, it is not advisable to use Space Port for your Prickly Pear runs. However, during natural runs, you can still quickly check for nearby convenient spots.
Riven Tides
There isn’t much community data for Prickly Pear on Riven Tides yet. There are 38 reported plant patches with Prickly Pear on Riven Tides, and the Dried Riverbed area is the main spot. This area is on the quieter side, which makes for a calmer run.

Storm Hut (approx., opens in a Flash Freeze)Blue Gate and Stella Montis
Prickly Pears do not spawn on Blue Gate or Stella Montis. These maps lack the Cacti Plant bushes required for Prickly Pear spawns. Blue Gate is the map for Olives, Lemons, and Apricots at the Olive Grove, but you will not find Prickly Pears there.
Also Found Here
You won’t find Prickly Pear growing alone. These usually share the same patch.
The same patches as Prickly Pear, mostly on Riven Tides and Dam Battlegrounds, often have:
- Mushroom (12 needed for Scrappy Level 5)
- Olives (6 needed for Scrappy Level 4)
- Lemon (3 needed for Scrappy Level 3)
- Apricot (3 needed for Scrappy Level 3, 12 for Scrappy Level 5)
- Fossilized Lightning (sells for 4,000 Raider Coins)
- Moss (sells for 500 Raider Coins)
Why You Need Prickly Pears
Prickly Pears serve three main purposes in ARC Raiders. Understanding these uses helps prioritize your farming efforts and decide whether to consume, craft, or save them.

Prickly Pears are required for upgrading Scrappy from Level III to Level IV. This upgrade costs 6 Prickly Pears, 6 Olives, and 1 Cat Bed. Leveling up Scrappy increases the amount of materials your rooster companion brings back between raids, making this a worthwhile investment.
Not ideal, but you can also use Prickly Pears in 3 other ways.
Pears are consumable stamina items that restore 20 stamina over 1 second. This makes them useful for quick bursts of sprinting when escaping danger or covering ground quickly. The fast use time means you can consume them mid-combat without significant delay. Though this is very situational, and hopefully, a last resort for escaping.

Prickly Pears are used in crafting Fruit Mix. The recipe requires 1 Prickly Pear, 1 Lemon, and 1 Apricot to create a consumable that restores both health and stamina. Fruit Mix is a valuable healing item for extended raids. This is done during runs using the Extended Topside Crafting Perk and isn’t very useful, as you’ll want to use more readily available Fabrics instead to craft Bandages.
Lastly, Prickly Pears can be recycled for Assorted Seeds. Salvaging yields 2 Assorted Seeds, while full recycling yields 3 Assorted Seeds. However, given their farming difficulty, recycling is not recommended unless you have a significant surplus.
Events That Increase Prickly Pear Spawns
Events are timed modifiers on maps that players can opt into for increased spawns of specific resources. The most relevant event for Prickly Pear farming is Lush Blooms.
Lush Blooms
Lush Blooms is a map modifier that dramatically increases nature loot across the map. When active, Prickly Pear spawns become more frequent, cacti can drop 2 to 3 items instead of 1, and Wicker Baskets appear throughout camps and nature areas.
In Wicker Baskets
During the Lush Blooms event, Wicker Baskets spawn throughout camps and nature areas. These baskets can contain any nature item, including Prickly Pears. Check residential zones and any area where you see baskets scattered on the ground.
Lush Blooms lasts 45 minutes and can appear on any map. Always check the World Modifiers before loading into a raid. If Lush Blooms is active on Buried City or Dam Battlegrounds, prioritize your Prickly Pear farming immediately.
Cold Snap
Cold Snap is another event worth watching for. Players have reported higher nature loot yields during this modifier, making it easier to find Prickly Pears at their usual spawn locations. Keep an eye on active modifiers and take advantage of favorable conditions.

Cold Snap is a winter-exclusive event that runs frequently, alternating between maps. Check the World Modifiers screen before each raid to see which maps currently have Cold Snap active.
Tips for Farming Prickly Pears
Use Your Safe Pocket
The moment you pick up a Prickly Pear, put it in your Safe Pocket. Free loadouts do not include a Safe Pocket, so consider running a custom cheap loadout with one equipped. Even if you die, your Safe Pocket contents are protected.

A useful strategy is to enter raids with an empty custom loadout. You have no weapons to defend yourself, but you gain access to the Safe Pocket. Grab your Prickly Pears, store them safely, and either extract or let an enemy kill you for a quick exit.
Check Multiple Cacti
Not every cactus will have Prickly Pears underneath. ARC Raiders uses randomization for resource spawns, so you need to check multiple plants. Look carefully at the base and circle each cactus, as the red fruit hides behind the leaves.
Farm Agave at the Same Time
Agave plants often spawn near cacti in Buried City and Dam Battlegrounds. While searching for Prickly Pears, harvest any Agave you find to maximize your raid efficiency. Both resources share similar spawn areas.
Run Multiple Quick Raids
Prickly Pear spawns have randomness built in. Sometimes your favorite spot will be empty while another location is loaded. Do not get frustrated by bad luck. Extract with whatever you find, bank it, and queue again. Consistent short runs are more effective than hoping for one perfect raid.
Avoid High Traffic Areas
If you spawn on the opposite side of the map from your target location, do not run straight through the middle. Circle around the edges of the map to avoid high loot POIs where players congregate. The southern perimeter of Buried City is already on the map edge, making it naturally safer.
Frequently Asked Questions
Buried City is the best map for Prickly Pear farming due to its desert terrain and multiple cactus clusters. The southern perimeter near the map edge has the highest concentration of cacti, yielding 2 to 4 Prickly Pears per raid.
The Level IV Scrappy upgrade requires 6 Prickly Pears, 6 Olives, and 1 Cat Bed. This upgrade increases the amount of materials Scrappy brings back between raids.
No. Prickly Pears do not spawn on Blue Gate. The map lacks the Cacti Plant bushes required for Prickly Pear spawns. Stick to Buried City, Dam Battlegrounds, or Spaceport for farming Prickly Pears.
Lush Blooms increases nature loot spawns across the map. Prickly Pears appear more frequently, cacti can drop 2 to 3 items instead of 1, and Wicker Baskets spawn throughout the map containing random nature items including Prickly Pears.
Prickly Pears restore 20 stamina over 1 second when consumed. They do not restore health directly, but can be combined with a Lemon and Apricot to craft Fruit Mix, which restores both health and stamina.
Prickly Pears are bright red fruit that spawn on the ground at the base of cacti. Their distinctive color makes them relatively easy to spot once you know to check underneath cactus plants.
Yes. Prickly Pears sell for 64 Coins each. However, given their importance for Scrappy upgrades and Fruit Mix crafting, selling them is not recommended unless you have a significant surplus.
Use your Safe Pocket. Run a custom loadout instead of a free loadout to access the Safe Pocket slot. Any items stored there are protected even if you die during the raid.
