Each Leaper can drop between 1 and 4 Pulse Units, and at 5,000 Raider Coins each, they are among the most valuable items in the game. This guide covers the best maps for finding Leapers, how to identify them, combat strategies for taking them down safely, and tips for maximizing your Leaper Pulse Unit farming runs.

Leaper Pulse Units are Epic items required for the Utility Station Level 3 upgrade, the Into the Fray mission, and Project IV progression. Unlike most crafting materials in ARC Raiders, Leaper Pulse Units cannot be found in containers, lockers, or world loot. The only way to obtain them is by destroying Leapers and looting their remains. This guide covers where Leapers spawn, how many Leaper Pulse Units you need for progression, and whether to sell or recycle your extras.

⚔

Where Are Leaper Pulse Units Found

Leaper Pulse Units only drop from Leapers. You cannot find them in lockers, containers, bags, or any other searchable object. This makes them one of the few items in ARC Raiders that requires defeating a specific enemy rather than looting the environment.

Each Leaper you destroy can drop between 1 and 4 Leaper Pulse Units. Make sure to search all body parts after the Leaper falls, including the main eye section and each leg. Many players forget to check the legs, leaving valuable Pulse Units behind.

Which Maps Have Leaper Spawns

Leapers spawn on most maps in ARC Raiders, with the exception of Stella Montis. Before deploying, check the map for open areas near extraction points and research buildings where Leapers typically patrol.

Dam Battlegrounds

Dam Battlegrounds has the most reliable Leaper spawns, typically found in the open areas between Water Treatment and the extraction points. The flat terrain makes spotting Leapers easy from elevated positions.

Though most commonly seen by the water treatment control extraction, they can be found along the dam sometimes

The Spaceport

The Spaceport offers consistent Leaper spawns around the Launch Towers area. This map has plenty of structures nearby, making it a good option for players who prefer having cover options readily available.

Head towards the heart of the map and you should see one in the distance

Buried City

In Buried City, Leapers can be found in the open spaces near extraction points. The spawns are less predictable than Dam Battlegrounds, but the map still provides opportunities for Leaper hunting.

In Buried City, Leapers can be found mostly in the open space by the extraction points

Night raids work just as well as day raids for Leaper hunting. Typically only one Leaper spawns per map instance, so plan your route accordingly.

Leaper Pulse Unit Stats

Leaper Pulse Units are classified as Epic Throwable items. Each unit weighs 1 KG and sells for 5,000 Raider Coins, making them one of the most valuable items per kilogram in the game.

Note that this is two Leaper Units, so value of each one is 5,000 and weighs 1.0

Despite being classified as throwables, Leaper Pulse Units are primarily used as crafting materials. When thrown, they create a violent singularity with a 10-meter radius that deals 100 damage. However, given their high value and importance for progression, most players save them rather than using them as weapons.

⚔

How Many Leaper Pulse Units Do You Need

You need a total of 8 Leaper Pulse Units to complete all current progression requirements in ARC Raiders. Missing these will block your advancement through key upgrades and missions.

Utility Station Level 3

The Utility Station Level 3 upgrade requires 4 Leaper Pulse Units. This upgrade unlocks advanced utility crafting at your Workshop, including better traversal tools and support items. Without this upgrade, your crafting options remain limited.

Into the Fray Mission

The Into the Fray mission requires 1 Leaper Pulse Unit to complete. This mission is part of the main questline and must be finished to continue your progression through the game’s story content.

Project IV

Project IV requires 3 Leaper Pulse Units for progression. Combined with the other requirements, you should aim to collect at least 8 Leaper Pulse Units before considering selling or recycling any extras.

⚔

Recycle vs Sell Leaper Pulse Units

Once you have collected your 8 required Leaper Pulse Units, you have two options for extras: sell them for coins or recycle them for crafting materials.

Selling

Leaper Pulse Units sell for 5,000 Raider Coins each at vendors. At only 1 KG per unit, this represents exceptional value for inventory space. On the marketplace, they trade for around 131 Seeds on average, though prices fluctuate based on demand.

Recycling

Recycling a Leaper Pulse Unit at your Workshop yields 3 Arc Alloy and 2 Advanced Mechanical Components. These materials are difficult to obtain through other means and are required for various high-tier crafting recipes.

If you need Arc Alloy or Advanced Mechanical Components for other upgrades, recycling provides better long-term value than selling. However, if your Workshop upgrades are complete and you just need coins, selling is the straightforward choice.

⚔

Tips For Collecting Leaper Pulse Units

Always search every part of a destroyed Leaper. The main eye section typically contains Leaper Pulse Units, but the legs can also drop them. If you see a destroyed Leaper that another player has looted, check the legs anyway since they are often missed.

Use your Safe Pocket for Leaper Pulse Units whenever possible. If you die during extraction, items in your Safe Pocket are preserved. At 5,000 coins each, losing a Leaper Pulse Unit hurts significantly more than losing common materials.

Prioritize extraction after obtaining Leaper Pulse Units. Other players may have heard the fight and could be heading to your location. The value of these items makes them worth protecting over additional looting.

Thomas has been writing game guides for over a year, covering whatever he's currently sunk into. He doesn't write about anything he hasn't actually played, which usually isn't a problem since he plays too much of everything anyway. Rocket League ate enough of his life to get him to Grand Champion, and he's got several max-level, fully geared characters sitting in World of Warcraft from various binges over the years. Recent obsessions include ARC Raiders, Battlefield, For Honor, and Rainbow Six Siege, with plenty of others in rotation. He's also worked behind the scenes for a well-known gaming creator on video production and editorial pieces, so the guides here are shaped as much by that side of the industry as by the hours logged in-game. Every tip, build, and location in his guides comes from his own playthroughs. If he hasn't tested it, it doesn't get published.
