Laboratory Reagents

Weight: 3 kg | Stack Size: 3 | Sell Value: 2,000 Raider Coins | Found in: Medical Areas

This guide covers the best maps, container types, and specific locations to farm Laboratory Reagents efficiently. Whether you need them for the Explosives Station III upgrade or want to recycle them for Chemicals and Crude Explosives, understanding where these items spawn will save you countless raids.

⚔️

Where Are Laboratory Reagents Found

Laboratory Reagents spawn exclusively in Medical areas, marked on the map with a cross icon. These zones contain hospitals, research facilities, pharmacies, and medical storage rooms where Laboratory Reagents naturally appear. An exception to this is in Medical Containers found in other areas.

I’d found a laboratory reagent in the medical container on a run, though most of the time they’ll be found in medical settings like Medical Labs of Stella Montis, Annex Testing in Dam Battlegrounds

The item appears as a brown glass bottle with a hazard label, often found inside blue medical crates or sitting on shelves in medical facilities. They can also be found on shelves in Medical POIs such as the one found in Stella Montis as pictued below.

Medical Bay in Stella Montis has Laboratory Reagents on shelves near other medical equipment

This is a fairly consistent spawn location, though the concern lies with the high-risk nature of Stella Montis, where PvP is fairly aggressive, and so extractions are more difficult.

Best Laboratory Reagents Locations

While Laboratory Reagents can spawn across multiple maps in Medical areas, certain locations stand out for reliable farming. Below are the best spots organized by map, starting with the most efficient options based on community data and spawn density.

Buried City accounts for 50% of all Laboratory Reagents finds, making it the primary farming destination. The New District area contains the Hospital, a multi-floor Medical facility with numerous blue medical crates and container spawns. This building has been consistently recommended by the community as the best single location for Laboratory Reagents farming.

The Hospital features multiple floors filled with medical equipment, beds, and storage rooms. Search every floor thoroughly, checking not just containers but also open cabinets and desk surfaces where Laboratory Reagents can spawn as world loot. The Research building located near the Hospital in New District offers additional Medical spawns and serves as a secondary farming spot on the same raid.

West Village and Old Town contain pharmacies and smaller medical facilities that can spawn Laboratory Reagents. Piaza Busto and Plaza Rosa both have pharmacies inside their building complexes, offering alternative farming routes when the Hospital is contested. The Outskirts area has scattered Medical zones but lower density compared to the central districts.

Pro Tip

The Hospital in New District has multiple entry points. Enter from the roof or upper floors to get first access to unlooted containers, as most players start from ground level and work their way up.

Dam Battlegrounds contributes 25% of Laboratory Reagents finds and offers the most consolidated Medical farming experience. The Testing Annex building is widely considered the best Medical spawn location in the entire game due to its compact layout and high container density. You can loot this entire building quickly and extract nearby.

To reach Testing Annex, look for the building entrance with stairs leading up past an alarm over the door. Make a sharp left after entering and you will find a room packed with medical spawns. This location also drops Rusted Shut Medical Kits and Cracked Bioscanners, making it efficient for farming multiple Medical items in a single run.

The Research and Admin building offers another excellent farming spot on Dam Battlegrounds. Take the zipline to the upper floors, turn right then left, and continue to the end to find a dedicated medical room. The Water Treatment Complex and Hydroelectric Dam Complex areas have scattered Medical containers but lower density than Testing Annex.

Info

Testing Annex has an extraction point very close by. This makes it ideal for quick farming runs where you grab Laboratory Reagents and extract immediately rather than exploring the full map.

Stella Montis features 13% of Laboratory Reagents finds, with the Medical Research facility being the primary farming location. This dedicated Medical zone is clearly marked on the map and contains concentrated medical container spawns. The facility layout makes it easy to clear quickly once you learn the room positions.

The Loading Bay and Assembly areas adjacent to Medical Research may contain additional Medical containers worth checking. The Lobby and Atrium serve as transition zones with occasional spawns. Cultural Archives on the eastern side of the map has some Medical zones but lower spawn rates than the dedicated Medical Research building.

Riven Tides

Riven Tides has very few reported Laboratory Reagents finds. Riven Tides has no Medical areas, so Laboratory Reagents only turns up in the odd general container here. Not worth a dedicated run; pick them up if you’re there for something else.

Pendola Pass

Pendola Pass only arrived with the latest update, so reports are still thin. The game’s loot data fills the gap. The Medical loot on Pendola Pass sits in Commissary Supermarket. Commissary Supermarket is a medium-threat area, so it’s busy but manageable.

These maps serve as backup options when Buried City and Dam Battlegrounds are heavily contested. The lower spawn rates mean you should only farm here if you happen to be on these maps for other objectives or if queue times favor them over the primary farming locations.

What Do the Stats Tell Us

Buried City accounts for 50% of all Laboratory Reagents finds, making it the dominant farming map by a significant margin. Dam Battlegrounds contributes 25% of spawns with its concentrated Medical zones, while Stella Montis offers 13% through its dedicated Medical Research facility. Both Blue Gate and The Spaceport account for 6% each, making them backup options when other maps are too contested.

What Is A Laboratory Reagent

Laboratory Reagents are classified as Rare recyclable items in Arc Raiders. Each Laboratory Reagent weighs 3 kg, stacks up to 3, and sells for 2,000 Raider Coins at vendors. The item appears as a brown glass bottle with chemical hazard markings, representing laboratory chemicals salvaged from pre-invasion medical facilities.

The in-game description states: “Can be recycled into crafting materials.” When recycled at the Raider Den, a Laboratory Reagent yields 16x Chemicals (worth 800 coins) and 3x Crude Explosives (worth 810 coins) for a total recycle value of 1,610 Raider Coins. This represents a 390 coin loss compared to selling directly, making selling the better option for pure profit.

A full stack of 3 Laboratory Reagents weighs 9 kg total and sells for 6,000 Raider Coins. The weight makes inventory management important when farming, as carrying multiple stacks will quickly fill your backpack. Consider using your Safe Pocket to protect at least one Laboratory Reagent per raid.

⚔️

Why You Need Laboratory Reagents

Laboratory Reagents serve a critical purpose in Arc Raiders progression, making them worth farming rather than selling immediately. The primary use is upgrading your Explosives Station workbench, which unlocks advanced explosive crafting recipes.

Explosives Station Upgrade

The primary use of Laboratory Reagents is upgrading the Explosives Station workbench from Level II to Level III. You need exactly 3 Laboratory Reagents to complete this upgrade, which unlocks advanced explosive crafting options. This is a one-time requirement, so once you have gathered and used the 3 required Laboratory Reagents, any additional finds become pure profit.

Given their Rare status and specific Medical spawn locations, Laboratory Reagents should be prioritized for the workbench upgrade. Only sell or recycle extras once you have gathered the 3 required for the Explosives Station III upgrade. The workbench upgrade is permanent and significantly expands your crafting capabilities.

Recycle vs Sell

Laboratory Reagents sell for 2,000 Raider Coins each directly to vendors. Recycling yields 1,610 coins worth of materials (16x Chemicals and 3x Crude Explosives). Selling gives you 390 more coins directly, making it the better option for pure profit unless you specifically need Chemicals or Crude Explosives for other crafting.

The recycled materials can be useful if you need Chemicals for medical crafting or Crude Explosives for other recipes. However, both materials are relatively common compared to Laboratory Reagents themselves. For most players, selling excess Laboratory Reagents after completing the workbench upgrade is the recommended approach.

⚔️

Tips For Farming Laboratory Reagents

Laboratory Reagents stack to 3 and each weighs 3 kg, meaning a full stack takes up 9 kg of inventory space. Plan your loadout accordingly and consider bringing a lighter weapon setup when doing dedicated farming runs. A focused farming session at the Hospital or Testing Annex can yield 1 to 3 Laboratory Reagents if spawns are favorable.

Always use your Safe Pocket for Laboratory Reagents. Equip any Augment in a custom Build rather than running free loadouts to ensure you have Safe Pocket access. Losing a 2,000 coin Rare item on death hurts significantly more than losing common loot, so protect your finds whenever possible.

Check world spawns in addition to containers. Laboratory Reagents can appear sitting on shelves, desks, and inside open cabinets in Medical facilities. Many players rush through only checking searchable containers and miss the items placed as environmental loot. Take an extra few seconds to scan surfaces in medical rooms. Also occasionally the Laboratory Reagants do spawn in unusal settings such as in a cupboard outside any medical areas and so there may be luck involved at times.

I’d found Laboratory Reagants in a Desk outside the Dam Battlegrounds on the balcony leading into Hydrophonic domes

Run multiple short raids rather than one long expedition. Hit the Hospital on Buried City or Testing Annex on Dam Battlegrounds, grab your Laboratory Reagents, and extract quickly. The spawns refresh each raid, making quick targeted runs more efficient than full map exploration. Late spawns can still be profitable since many players do not know they need this item.

Pro Tip

Testing Annex on Dam Battlegrounds offers the fastest farming loop. The Medical room is compact, has high spawn density, and sits near an extraction point. You can complete a full run in under 5 minutes with favorable spawns.

Expect 3 to 6 dedicated runs to gather the 3 Laboratory Reagents needed for the Explosives Station III upgrade. Spawn rates vary, and you may get lucky with multiple finds in a single raid or go several runs without seeing one. Patience and consistency are key when farming Rare items like Laboratory Reagents.
