This guide covers all the best Cooling Fan farming locations across every map in ARC Raiders. Whether you need Cooling Fans for the Core Systems expedition project or just want to stock up on this valuable Rare item, these spots will help you gather them efficiently.
Where Are Cooling Fans Found
Cooling Fans spawn exclusively in Technological areas, marked on the map with a Circuit icon. These zones contain server rooms, electrical infrastructure, and research equipment where Cooling Fans naturally appear.

The primary containers for Cooling Fans include yellow server cabinets, gray electrical boxes, tall vertical cabinets that require breaching, and tape or video players. Yellow electrical boxes tend to have higher spawn rates than gray ones.

Cooling Fans can also be found not in containers, and this is a viable way to farm them quickly, with players searching equipment rooms with a lot of consoles like the one shown above, as items can sometimes appear on top of them, such as Power Cables, Cooling Fans, Damaged Heat Sinks, or Wires.
Best Cooling Fan Locations
While Cooling Fans can spawn across multiple maps in Technological areas, three locations stand out for reliable farming. Below are the best spots organized by map, starting with the most efficient options.

Extraction pointInside Pilgrim’s Peak, look for gray electrical boxes on the walls and in corners throughout the building. Yellow electrical boxes are located in a separate room through a doorway and typically have better spawn rates. On average, expect 1-2 Cooling Fans per run, with a maximum of 4 on lucky raids.
This location is less contested than other farming spots, making it ideal for solo players. An extraction point sits just down the hill from Pilgrim’s Peak, allowing for quick escapes after looting. The area also spawns Light Bulbs, letting you farm two valuable items simultaneously for Part 3 of your Project.
Buried City
Buried City features the Space Travel building as its primary Cooling Fan location, accounting for 8% of total finds. This multi-floor structure contains numerous tall vertical cabinets that you can breach and search, each with a chance to drop Cooling Fans. Players also report finding them in air-conditioners throughout the map.

Extraction pointRun the Space Travel building from top to bottom. Most players start at the bottom and work upward, so entering from the top gives you first access to unlooted containers. The upper floors also have more breachable cabinets, increasing your chances of finding Cooling Fans.
Be aware that Space Travel is a contested area with multiple Fireballs inside. You may need to bring gear rather than running a free loadout due to the increased difficulty. The building next door also contains Technological containers worth checking. A convenient extraction point is located directly below the building.
Riven Tides
Riven Tides has a standard share of Cooling Fan finds. The Technological loot on Riven Tides sits in Port Authority Building. Port Authority Building is a high-threat area, so expect ARC and other players.

Storm Hut (approx., opens in a Flash Freeze)What Do the Stats Tell Us
Dam Battlegrounds accounts for 54% of all Cooling Fan finds, making it the dominant farming map by raw numbers. The Spaceport follows at 23%, while Blue Gate, Buried City, and Stella Montis each contribute 8% of the total Cooling Fan drops.

According to the loot data, 100% of all Cooling Fans are found in breachable containers. No other container type spawns them, so focus exclusively on server racks and cabinets that require breaching when farming. I have found some on top of consoles, so we can at least conclude that this data is incomplete.
Unlike Residential items that spawn on furniture, Cooling Fans appear inside technological equipment. Look for server racks, breachable cabinets, and control panels when searching for spawns. The search and breach containers generally offer the best chances for Cooling Fan drops.

The same loot pool drops a handful of other useful items, so it pays to know what to look for.
The Breachable Containers and bags that hold Cooling Fan, most often on Stella Montis and the Spaceport, also roll:
- Fried Motherboard (3 needed for Utility Station Level 3)
- Damaged Heat Sink (2 needed for Utility Station Level 2)
- Battery (sells for 250 Raider Coins)
- Sensors (30 needed for Ascending The Mountain phase 4)
What Is A Cooling Fan
Cooling Fans are classified as Rare recyclable items in ARC Raiders. Each Cooling Fan weighs 3 KG, stacks up to 3, and sells for 2,000 Raider Coins at vendors.

When recycled at the Raider Den, a Cooling Fan yields 14 Plastic Parts (840 coins) and 4 Wires (800 coins) for a total recycle value of 1,640 coins. Salvaging topside only produces 4 Wires, making recycling the better option when possible.
Why You Need Cooling Fans
Cooling Fans serve a critical purpose in ARC Raiders progression, making them worth farming rather than selling immediately.
Core Systems Expedition Project
The primary use of Cooling Fans is the Core Systems project, which is Phase 2 of 5 in Expedition 1. You need exactly 5 Cooling Fans to complete this project and advance to the next stage.

Given their Rare status and specific spawn locations, Cooling Fans should be prioritized for project completion. Only sell or recycle extras once you have gathered the 5 required for Core Systems.
Recycle vs Sell
Cooling Fans sell for 2,000 Raider Coins each. Recycling yields 1,640 coins worth of materials (Plastic Parts x 14 = 840 coins + Wires x 4 = 800 coins). Selling gives you 360 more coins directly, making it the better option for pure profit.
We recommend selling Cooling Fans once you have completed the Core Systems project, unless you specifically need Plastic Parts or Wires for other crafting. The 360 coin difference adds up over multiple runs.
Avoid salvaging Cooling Fans in the field unless your inventory is completely full. Salvaging only yields 4 Wires, significantly less value than both selling and recycling at your Workshop.
Tips For Farming Cooling Fans
Cooling Fans stack to 3, and each weighs 3 KG. Plan your inventory space accordingly. A dedicated farming run can net 2 to 4 Cooling Fans if you hit the right Technological areas and get favorable spawns.

Always use your Safe Pocket for Cooling Fans. Equip any Augment in a custom Build rather than running free loadouts to ensure you have Safe Pocket access. If you die during extraction, items in your Safe Pocket are preserved.
Search and breach containers take time and leave you vulnerable to ambushes. Clear nearby enemies before opening breachable cabinets, and keep your guard up while the animation plays.
Run multiple short raids rather than one long expedition. Hit Pilgrim’s Peak on The Blue Gate, grab your Cooling Fans, and extract quickly. The spawns refresh each raid, making quick runs more efficient than full map exploration.
If you have the Blue Gate Communication Power Key, save it for Pilgrim’s Peak. The key card room inside has higher Cooling Fan spawn rates and can significantly boost your farming efficiency in a single run.
Expect 1-3 runs to gather the 5 Cooling Fans needed for Core Systems. With consistent farming at the recommended locations, you should complete the project requirement relatively quickly.
Frequently Asked Questions
While Dam Battlegrounds has 54% of all Cooling Fan finds, The Blue Gate’s Pilgrim’s Peak is the most efficient spot. It has multiple breachable cabinets, a key card room with higher spawn rates, a nearby extraction point, and is less contested than other locations.
You need 5 Cooling Fans to complete the Core Systems project, which is Phase 2 of 5 in Expedition 1. With consistent farming at Pilgrim’s Peak or Dam Battlegrounds, you should gather enough in 1-3 raids.
According to community data, 100% of Cooling Fans spawn in breachable containers. This includes yellow server cabinets, gray electrical boxes, and tall vertical cabinets that require breaching. Yellow electrical boxes tend to have higher spawn rates.
Keep your Cooling Fans until you complete the Core Systems project, which requires 5. After that, selling for 2,000 coins is better than recycling for 1,640 coins worth of materials. Only recycle if you specifically need Plastic Parts or Wires.
The key card room is inside Pilgrim’s Peak on The Blue Gate map. You need the Blue Gate Communication Power Key to access it. The room contains additional electrical containers with higher Cooling Fan spawn rates, potentially yielding 2 or more fans.
Cooling Fans weigh 3 KG each and stack up to 3, making them heavier than most items. Plan your inventory accordingly when farming, and prioritize putting them in your Safe Pocket to protect them if you die.
No, Cooling Fans spawn exclusively in Technological areas marked with the gear icon on your map. Other area types like Residential or Industrial do not contain Cooling Fan spawns. Always head to Technological POIs when farming.
Space Travel on Buried City is a viable option but more difficult than Pilgrim’s Peak. It has multiple floors with breachable cabinets, but the area is contested and contains Fireballs. Run it from top to bottom for best results, and bring gear for the added difficulty.
