Comet Igniter
Weight: 1.0 kg | Stack Size: 3 | Sell Value: 1,000 Raider Coins | Source: Comet ARC Enemy
The Comet Igniter is a Rare material in Arc Raiders required for the Weather Monitor System project and crafting the Deadline throwable. This guide covers what the item is, where to find it, and the best strategies for farming Comet Igniters efficiently.
Where To Find Comet Igniters
Unlike most loot items, Comet Igniters drop exclusively from the Comet, a new ARC enemy introduced in the Shrouded Sky update. Comets are armored spherical machines that roll toward players and self-destruct on contact, dealing massive damage.

The critical requirement for obtaining a Comet Igniter is destroying the Comet before it explodes. If the Comet self-destructs, you can still loot its remains, but the igniter will not be present. When successfully destroyed, the Comet splits into two lootable parts. The round core section contains the Comet Igniter at a 100% drop rate, while the outer ring section contains other materials. Scroll down to see the map locations for Comet Arc.
If the Comet explodes on its own or detonates near you, the Comet Igniter is destroyed in the blast. Always maintain distance and destroy it from range to guarantee the drop.
Where To Find Comet ARCs
They are visually distinctive, resembling a fireball mixed with a Surveyor, and you can often spot them rolling in the distance before they detect you. Multiple Comets can spawn in the same area, with some locations consistently having 2-3 Comets patrolling together.
Dam Battlegrounds

Dam Battlegrounds is widely considered the best map for Comet farming, especially during Hurricane events. The outdoor facility areas around Dome Complex and Research and Administration consistently spawn multiple Comets. Players report finding 2-3 Comets in back-to-back raids in these areas.
The zone between the Water Treatment Elevator and Primary Facility is another reliable spawn area. Comets patrol this open ground frequently. Continue toward the Floodgates area to find additional spawns. The northern section near Power Gen Complex also supports Comet spawns with good kiting terrain.
Dam Battlegrounds during Hurricane weather is the most efficient farming method. Queue specifically for Hurricane events when they appear on this map for maximum Comet density.
Blue Gate

Blue Gate provides reliable Comet spawns in several outdoor zones. The area around Head House and the Warehouse Complex is particularly active. Near the Warehouse Air Shaft, players consistently find 3 Comets patrolling together, making it efficient for multi-kill farming runs.
The Northwest Hangars and Pilgrim’s Perch areas also support Comet spawns. Check the open ground near Checkpoint and the exterior spaces around Carbyne for additional encounters.
The Spaceport

The Spaceport offers excellent Comet spawns with terrain advantages for kiting. The Launch Towers area is particularly effective because the ramps and elevated platforms let you maintain distance easily. Players can jump down, kite the Comet up the ramp, and repeat while dealing damage safely.
Inside the Rocket Assembly building on the ground floor, 2-3 Comets often patrol together. The ladders inside provide vertical escape routes for kiting. Additional spawns appear near Staff Parking, Fuel Silos, Decommission Building, and Shipping Warehouse exteriors.
Buried City

Buried City spawns Comets in the open streets and plazas between buildings. The New District central area is the primary spawn zone, with Comets rolling through the main thoroughfares. West Village and Old Town exteriors also support spawns in their open spaces. The Outskirts region on the map edges provides additional Comet encounters. After creating this infographic, I found they can also steer off course towards the bottom right.
Stella Montis

Stella Montis has Comet spawns concentrated in the Loading Bay area. This large open space regularly spawns Comets that patrol the warehouse floor. The Assembly exterior and areas near Lobby also support occasional spawns. While Stella Montis has fewer reported Comet spawns compared to other maps, Loading Bay remains viable if you are already on this map.
How To Kill Comets
Comets are surprisingly tanky and will chase you relentlessly. The key is dealing enough damage quickly while keeping your distance. Several loadout options make this easier, depending on your available gear. While it isn’t ideal, they pause briefly before exploding – using this time to roll away usually means you survive, but you lose out on the Comet Igniter item you want.
Guaranteed Drop Rate
The Comet Igniter is only a guaranteed item if you do not let the Comet self-destruct – it doesn’t matter if it exploded as a result of you killing it.

You can identify if you were successful by finding two lootable parts of the Comet Arc. The Rounded Core is where you’ll find the Comet Igniters.
Comet Weak spot
The Comet Arc has a weak spot, visible only in chase mode, where it opens slightly horizontally, revealing a gap in its armor.

The gap is relatively small, but it is worthwhile aiming for while chasing you.
Best Weapons and Throwables
Wolf Pack is the most effective option, instantly destroying the Comet in one hit. Simply toss it near the Comet and collect your guaranteed Comet Igniter. If you do not have a Wolf Pack, Seeker Grenades work well, requiring approximately 4 grenades to destroy a Comet. The Showstopper throwable stuns the Comet for several seconds, giving you time to unload damage with your weapon into its weakspot.

For weapon-based kills, the Hullcracker destroys Comets in 2-3 shots, while the Anvil requires 4-6 shots. Aim for the exposed core when visible for increased damage. Shooting the armored outer shell requires penetrating through the plating first, which takes longer. Some players claim that using an Osprey works well, as you can more clearly see their weakness spots and begin combat from much further away, though it has medium penetration compared to Anvils.
Kiting Strategies
Kiting is essential when fighting Comets. Use ladders, ramps, pipes, and elevation changes to maintain distance while dealing damage. Comets cannot climb, so vertical movement gives you a significant advantage. The Launch Towers on Spaceport are ideal for this, letting you jump down, kite the Comet up the ramp, and repeat.

Keep at least 15-20 meters of distance while engaging. If a Comet gets too close, disengage and reset rather than risking the self-destruct. Building corners and debris provide natural cover to break the line of sight and reposition.
An easy way to kite on most maps is to find a place with a way up and down, but it’s longer than ziplining up/down and setting up camp there.
Inside Rocket Assembly on Spaceport, use the ladders to climb when Comets get close. They cannot follow you up, giving you free shots from above. Drop down to reset and repeat until destroyed.
Hurricane Weather Event
During Hurricane weather, Comet spawns increase substantially, but visibility drops, and armor takes ticking damage while outdoors. Consider temporarily unequipping your armor to avoid durability loss, but be prepared for reduced visibility when tracking Comets.

Queue for Hurricane events when available on Dam Battlegrounds or Spaceport for the highest Comet density. Accept the tradeoffs as worthwhile for more farming opportunities per raid.
What Is A Comet Igniter
The Comet Igniter is classified as a Rare material added in patch 1.17.0 alongside the Shrouded Sky update. Each Comet Igniter weighs 1.0 kg, stacks up to 3, and sells for 1,000 Raider Coins at vendors.

Players need Comet Igniters for two purposes. The Weather Monitor System project requires 1 Comet Igniter donation for Phase 2, rewarding 250 Raider Tokens and the Anemometer charm upon completion. Additionally, the Deadline throwable crafting recipe at Explosives Station 3 requires 1 Comet Igniter, 3 Explosive Compound, and 2 ARC Circuitry.
When recycled, a Comet Igniter yields 2 ARC Alloy and 2 Crude Explosives. Salvaging topside only produces 2 Crude Explosives. Given the effort required to obtain them, we recommend keeping Comet Igniters for crafting rather than selling.
What Is A Comet ARC
The Comet is a Security-class ARC unit that resembles a Surveyor but behaves very differently. This spherical machine charges at Raiders with alarming speed and self-destructs on contact, dealing heavy damage in a wide blast radius. Comets frequently guard heavier ARC units like Bastions, punishing players who don’t consider their options properly.
Thick armor plating protects the Comet’s core during normal movement. However, when it charges, the plating opens, exposing its vulnerable innards. This exposed core is the Comet’s weakspot and takes significantly more damage when hit. Targeting it while the Comet rushes toward you is difficult but rewards skilled aim.
Tips For Farming Comet Igniters
Comet Igniters stack to 3 and weigh 1.0 kg each. Always use your Safe Pocket for Comet Igniters. Given the combat required to obtain them, losing them to death would be a waste of significant effort. Equip any Augment in a custom Build rather than running free loadouts to ensure Safe Pocket access.
Comets spawn on all maps in Arc Raiders regardless of weather conditions. While the Hurricane event significantly increases Comet spawns, players have confirmed finding them during clear weather, rain, and other conditions. The key pattern is that Comets appear in outdoor areas and open spaces where they have room to roll and patrol.
Run short, focused raids targeting known Comet spawn zones. Hit Dam Battlegrounds Dome Complex or Spaceport Launch Towers, grab your Comet Igniters, and extract quickly. Spawns refresh each raid, making quick runs more efficient than full map exploration. A dedicated farming run can yield 1-3 Comet Igniters depending on spawn luck and your ability to kill them cleanly.
Bring ranged damage options like Seeker Grenades, Wolf Pack, or the Hullcracker every run. Trying to melee or short-range a Comet is extremely risky since they explode on proximity. Plan your loadout before deploying.
