This guide covers the best strategies for killing Leapers in ARC Raiders, including the cheap Blaze Grenade method, the safe door blocking tactic, and the fastest spawn locations to farm these enemies. Whether you play solo or with friends, you will learn how to take down Leapers quickly without dying or wasting expensive items.
By the end of this guide, you will know exactly where to find Leapers, which weapons and grenades work best, and how to dodge their jump attacks and shockwave blasts.
How to Kill Leaper
If the Leaper’s Eye is blue, it means the Leaper is completely unaware of any Raiders. If the eye is orange, the Leaper is searching for a Raider it has heard or seen before. If the eye is red, it indicates that the Leaper knows the exact location of a Raider.

It has three primary ways of attacking: a leap attack, walking onto the player with one of its legs, or producing a shockwave. All of which can be avoided by using structures and buildings.
Door Blocking Method
Using Doors to avoid Leaper attacks is the safest way to kill Leapers when playing solo. You use a doorway to block the Leaper’s attacks while you shoot it safely from inside. This method needs heavy weapons or grenades and a building or bunker with a door/lots of cover. This is the main way to kill them.

Run straight into a building and stand a few steps inside, slightly to the side of the doorway. This position is important because it stops the Leaper from jumping on you and keeps you safe from its shockwave blast.
From inside the building, throw grenades or shoot heavy weapons through the doorway at the Leaper. Only peek out to shoot if the Leaper has gone out of view, then run back inside right away to stay safe.
You can close doors right before the Leaper uses its shockwave. Watch for yellow electric lines on its body – when you see them, close the door fast to block the shockwave, then open it again to keep shooting.
This method works in any building with a door too small for the Leaper. Other good spots include extraction points, research buildings, and admin offices on all maps. Just make sure the clearance is narrow enough to block the Leaper while you shoot through it.
Blaze Grenade Method
The Blaze Grenade method is the cheapest and easiest way to kill Leapers. You only need 2 to 4 Blaze Grenades and one heavy weapon to finish the job. This method works because Leapers are very weak to fire damage and will panic when they burn.

Before you fight the Leaper, bring 2 to 4 Blaze Grenades. Find a good spot near Crates, buildings, or bunkers that you can run around during the fight.
When the Leaper charges at you or lands from a jump, throw your first Blaze Grenade at its feet or body. The fire will start burning it right away and make it stagger.
Run in small circles around your cover to keep the Leaper inside the flames. You want the fire to keep burning it while you stay safe from its attacks.
Wait until the first grenade burns out completely, then throw the second one. If the Leaper stays in fire long enough, it will just shut down by itself without you needing to shoot it.
While the Leaper is burning, you can shoot its glowing eye or leg joints if you have a clear shot. This kills it faster and saves grenades.
Once the Leaper is weak or disabled from fire, finish it off with 1 or 2 shots from a heavy gun like the Anvil or Ferro. The whole fight usually takes less than one minute.
Blaze Grenades cost much less than Wolfpack launchers but work just as well. This makes them the wise choice when farming Leapers. You can only craft them at the Explosives Station level 3, and have found the blueprint for them, though you generally should be seeing them around during runs anyway.
Heavy Weapons and a lot of ammo
If you do not have grenades, you can still kill Leapers with only heavy weapons. Bring guns like the Anvil, Ferro, or Hullcracker with lots of ammo. Heavy Weapons use Heavy Ammo (Red Ammo).
Fight from doorways or windows so you can shoot and hide quickly. Shoot the red eye when the Leaper faces you, and shoot the leg joints to break armor and slow it down. Jump back into cover when you see a yellow spark around the Leaper, as that is its’ shockwave blast attack.
Roll sideways when the Leaper jumps in the air to dodge the landing. This method uses more ammo and takes longer than grenades, but it works when you have no explosives.
Wolfpacks
If you have money for expensive explosives, the Wolfpack launcher kills Leapers the fastest. You need one Wolfpack launcher and a backup weapon, such as Snap Blast or a heavy gun. They can be found during runs or crafted once the recipe has been found and the explosive station is level 3.

Kill nearby flying enemies first so they do not take the wolfpack’s agro. Stand near cover, then throw the Wolfpack up into the air so the missiles can lock onto the Leaper.
If the Leaper survives, finish it with Snap Blast shots to the legs or heavy weapon shots to the eye. This method is very fast, but Wolfpack launchers are expensive. Save them for when you need to kill something challenging quickly or fight the Queen.
Leaper Weak Spots
The Leaper has two main weak spots you must shoot for maximum damage. Knowing these weak points is essential for quick kills that save ammo and items.
Never shoot the Leaper’s armored body. Shooting the armor wastes ammo and does almost no damage. This makes fights take longer and you get hit more.
Leaper’s Eye
The first weak spot is the glowing eye on the Leaper’s front. This spot has no armor and takes full damage when you shoot it. Always aim here when the Leaper faces you.

Leaper’s Legs
The second weak spots are the leg joints on all four legs. These leg ball joints have no armor and take full damage. Shooting the leg joints does two things: it deals good damage and breaks armor that slows the Leaper down, making it an easier target.

When you destroy leg joints, the Leaper loses balance and cannot jump as far. A Leaper with broken legs cannot travel far when jumping and moves slower when walking.
Fire
The Leaper’s biggest weakness is fire damage. Blaze Grenades and fire weapons make the Leaper panic and eventually shut down completely if it burns long enough.

You can tell it is heavily damaged when it starts to struggle to walk or is on fire.
Understanding Leaper Attack Patterns
The Leaper uses two main attacks you need to learn and dodge.
Leaper Jump
The jump attack starts when the Leaper crouches down before launching into the air. This crouch is your warning to get ready to dodge. Once the Leaper jumps, it cannot turn in the air.

Move sideways by running or rolling when you see the crouch. Moving sideways is the best way to dodge the landing. Never run straight away from a jumping Leaper – it can jump very far and will land right on you.
Shockwave Blast
The shockwave blast is the second attack and is very dangerous in small spaces. The Leaper’s body will show yellow electric lines right before it releases the shockwave. You have about one second to react when you see this.

When you see yellow lines, run away from the Leaper fast to escape the shockwave range, or close a door between you and the Leaper to block it completely. The shockwave does heavy damage to anyone nearby and can break your shields and health quickly.
After the Leaper uses a shockwave, it needs a moment before it can attack again. This break is your chance to shoot weak spots safely without getting hit back.
Leaper Loot & Rewards
Killing a Leaper gives you important rewards that make the fight worthwhile.
Leaper Pulse Unit
The most valuable drop is the Leaper Pulse Unit, an Epic item worth 5,000 coins each. Each Leaper drops 1 to 4 Leaper Pulse Units when destroyed.

For full details on how many Leaper Pulse Units you need and what they are used for, see our guide on where to find Leaper Pulse Units.
Crafting Materials
Leapers also drop valuable crafting materials, including ARC Alloy, ARC Flex Rubber, ARC Performance Steel, Advanced ARC Powercell, Explosive Compound, and Mechanical Components. You need these materials to craft and upgrade your equipment.
The large debris pile from a dead Leaper contains more material, while the smaller debris pieces contain less. Make sure to pick up all debris before you extract to get the most rewards.
Extract quickly after killing a Leaper to avoid other players. They may have heard the fight and will try to kill you while you collect loot.
Frequently Asked Questions
Blaze Grenades are the best item for killing Leapers due to their low cost and the Leaper’s extreme vulnerability to fire damage. For firearms, heavy weapons like the Anvil, Ferro, or Hullcracker work best when targeting the glowing eye weak spot and leg joints for maximum damage output.
Yes, Leapers can be killed solo using the Door Blocking method or the Blaze Grenade method. The Door Blocking method is the safest solo strategy, requiring you to position a doorway between yourself and the Leaper to block all incoming attacks while safely dealing damage through the opening.
Dam Battlegrounds between Water Treatment and Research & Admin near a bunker extraction point has reliable Leaper spawns. This location is ideal for solo farming due to excellent cover options and strategic positioning opportunities for executing the Door Blocking method.
No, Wolfpack launchers are overkill for Leapers and incredibly expensive compared to more cost-effective alternatives. Use Blaze Grenades instead and save Wolfpack grenades for harder content where their power is truly necessary, as Blaze Grenades achieve the same result for significantly less money.
The Leaper has two primary weak spots: the glowing eye on its front and the leg joints on each of its four legs. Shooting these areas deals direct damage and bypasses armor, while shooting the heavily armored body wastes ammunition with minimal effect.
Watch for the distinctive crouch animation before the Leaper launches its jump attack, then immediately move sideways by running or rolling. The Leaper cannot adjust its trajectory mid-air, so lateral movement perpendicular to the jump direction guarantees a successful dodge.
The Leaper telegraphs its shockwave attack with yellow electric lines appearing across its body. Immediately sprint away to escape the area-of-effect range, or close a door between yourself and the Leaper to completely block the shockwave damage and maintain safe positioning.
Leapers drop 1 to 4 Leaper Pulse Units (worth 5,000 coins each) along with valuable crafting materials including ARC Alloy, ARC Flex Rubber, ARC Performance Steel, Advanced ARC Powercell, Explosive Compound, and Mechanical Components.
